I hope someone is at least looking after it. Maybe the buyer bought as an investment thinkiing she'd make a bundle by sitting on it for a year or two?

It is amazing, we saw it during the open house dates prior to the auction. 8-)

The MLS listing reads, FIRST OFFERING.....IS PRESERVED EXACTLY AS BUILT. Judging from those two parts of the listing, and that my friends described a house needing a total restoration in the late 90s (they did comment that it was clear the owners were Asian, but that is common in LF Estates), I'm w...

We went to see a house one street over from this B&H this afternoon so we drove by this one. It looks great from the curb. Zillow says the sale recorded for 2.15m in August. In a funny coincidence, we just found out that some friends looked at this B&H several years ago when it was on the ma...

Billy Rose is an LA real estate broker/flipper. He does restore and market some cool houses but I lost all respect when he tried to market Pierre Koenig's Gantert House in the Hollywood Dell as "Gantert-Rose" after he restored it. Fortunately the name did not stick. I will give him credit ...

The first electric ceiling fan was invented in the late 1800s so chances are, people had them in MCM homes in the 50s. I see them at MCM open houses all the time. Some I like, some I hate. Just go with something that you think looks good with your house and furnishings. To be honest, I didn't consid...

Here are the pictures I saw of 1505 Old Oak (the guest house). These are tagged MLS so maybe Wagner had listed it for sale or lease at some point. I don't know that these could be taken as any indication of the condition of 1500. On the other hand, Wagner is pushing 80. They might not have redecorat...

About the Grazer house... it will certainly be a tough sell, you are totally right. Did you know that they fully leveled the backyard and built some underground space? It's really a spectacular (and rare) LA house. I'm sure it's amazing but to be honest, I'm not as smitten with the area as many of ...

Another site is now reporting the selling price was actually closer to 12m. I'm curious what the condition of this property is. The AD photos are over 20 years old. I still think 15m is way more than land value so I'm wondering if Wagner spent a little of his Austin Powers money fixing up the house....

This is what we came up with for our weekend house. The house is still being remodeled so they aren't installed yet but I had Hunter brand fans that ran 24/7 for over 12 years in our LA house. That is not a light on the bottom. There is no light option for this one. http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?ac...

The second lot is 1505 Old Oak and has a 2400 s.f. house on it that has been used as a "guest house". Unless the houses are trashed (doubt it), I don't think they'll be torn down. 15m is way too much to pay just for the land (IMHO). I'm reading on other boards that the house at 1505 may al...

Trying to ID a MCM in Beachwood Cyn (Hollywood Hills)

There is a very cool MCM at 3064 Beachwood Drive in the Hollywood Hills. We drove past it yesterday and my S.O. commented about having admired it on walks for the past couple of years. I figured out that it is owned by a Richard Schilling and he applied to have it designated as a City of Los Angeles...

We looked at this house about a month ago. It is a nice house, but not a great house. My favorite room is the greenhouse dining room. The house was built in the 30s. Levitt bought it in the 50s and remodeled/expanded it. He left some details from the original house (like an original bathroom) that s...

We went to the open house yesterday. The house is amazing but actually does need some work. It does not have any city views. It sits facing east like the house Zorin Balbes recently redid in the bird streets to the west. All that 12" tile needs to go. The kitchen was redone at some point, I wou...

Came across this listed as open again this weekend. It has been open several times lately but the listing has been updated (or I just hadn't noticed the change) to indicate they are looking for a quick sale before it goes into foreclosure. But the price is only reduced to 1,299,000.

I too went to the open house. It could be cool... but [IMHO] one would have to really want to live there for a long time to break even on what it would take to save it the right way. If I can, that is, isn't part of it gated? I can't think of any of the original Trousdale Estates that is gated but I haven't explored up there in a couple of years. Some neighboring areas are gated. I'm agreeing with Trousdale Estates. That could be Sierra Towers in the one shot. I can't think of a tower that high over by Fairfax (below Mt. Olympus). Paul Trousdale bought most of the Doheny ranch (400+ acres) in the 50s from Lucy Doheny-Battson so a lot of the houses in that neighborhood are MC...
