A lot of the houses in PS are second homes, many being used as vacation rentals. Two masters is more appealing when renting to two couples. Also I've known of a lot of instances where friends go in on a house. Two masters can mean neither person gets the short end of the stick. I just saw a story on...

Re: Frustration in Tustin

He is showing people drawings of a one-story 1600sq ft stucco box but without the CC&Rs it could very well be a 3000sq ft 2-story stucco box. Unfortunately we had that exact experience. A longtime neighbor brought by drawings of a remodel/addition of their 1923 Spanish to accomodate their growi...

Vidal Sassoon? He lives in an INCREDIBLE Hal Levitt just above Greystone. Yeah, I was kind of surprised too when she said the Sassoons because she specifically said they would live in it after a restoration. Their Levitt is amazing (and IMHO, in a better neighborhood). The thoughts that occurred to...

Re: save the cliff may!

I tried emailing the broker and to let her know the gamble house just hosted a cliff may lecture and tour tomorrow. Her email didn't work (you'd think for the price she's asking she'd have a working email!). I think I may phone and leave a message. Maybe she should promote the cliff may thing and h...

I have my fingers crossed that the one "interested party" who wants to save it ends up with it. Rumor has it that interested party is Vidal Sassoon and his wife (she's the architectural buff). She supposedly pointed out all the flaws to the broker as they toured the house. I don't know any...

It's in a great neighborhood too. The lot is street to street (Los Franciscos to Los Encantos), and on the end of the block (next to Winona). So only one side of the property has a neighbor. Zillow says 1.1 but I'm guessing 2-3 million unless in terrible shape. I'm less than 2 miles away, maybe I ca...

We saw it on Sunday. The broker said there are "interested parties" but they must not be to interested if it has apparently been on the market since November and she was sitting an open house. All but one of her "interested parties" would be tearing it down. The views are amazing...

Came across this on the MLS. First time on the market in 40 years. And it is an open house tomorrow (3/18/07). Can't believe they even mention "build a dream house" http://guests.themls.com/profile_page.cfm?recnum=317087 The Most Incredible View in Los Angeles is being offered for s...

Here are a few more sketch-up views of our revised kitchen plan. the 18" dishwasher and a slightly smaller fridge made a world of difference in terms of actual cabinet space. I like it. Is there any way to shift the sink slightly to the left (facing it) and put the 18" dishwasher to the r...

Here's a recent article with interview with Kaufmann owner Beth Harris.

Confirms that the house will be sold. Also interesting that the later modifications to enclose the outdoor spaces were actually designed by William Cody.

Terrazzo is such a great choice for flooring! I grew up in Florida were almost all homes in our area came standard with Terrazzo floors. They were indestructible, although very slippery when wet. Back then, most people couldn't wait to cover them with wall to wall carpeting. My sister had a house i...

I ordered the product directly from Wausau Tile since I needed a large quality.....M Modern Homes (at Racquet Club & Palm Canyon) carries this product as well as competing products. Thanks! I had come across Wausau's site but would like to see in person first. We'll probably do a direct order a...

I've heard that FLW died penniless. Can anyone elaborate more on that story? I'm curious. I'm not the FLW fan in my family (my mom is) but I've been her chauffeur/partner in crime on enough FLW adventures to know that his life had lots of ups and downs. I wouldn't be surprised if he was broke. Ther...

Perhaps I wasn't very clear in my post. I wasn't questioning the right of FLW homeowners to ask/expect a premium for their homes. I certainly believe homes by famous architects are worth more than a similar home by an unknown. My point was only that the list on that particular site should be taken w...

My old Whirlpool had a silverware rack mounted to the door. Now that you mention it, ours had the silverware rack on the door too. I'd have to 2nd that an 18" dishwasher is a PITA (although we didn't have a Miele so you should check it out). The guy who built our LA house apparently ran short of money and cut corners with a really cheap Home Depot kitchen including the 18" dishwasher. I don't remember the brand but I ...
