A couple of months ago Kate and I were out at Desert Hot Springs to take a look at the John Lautner motel that’s for sale out there. We encountered a guy who is the set decorator for CSI: Miami (coincidentally named May but no relation). He was out there looking at the property to purchase for him...

Maybe I should have tagged this "Phillips Ranch or Diamond Bar adjacent". Somehow people just can't get past the "P" word. I know Pomona has a bad reputation, but some people are really overreacting. Probably the same people that argue about whether the westside starts at Highlan...

Sorry for the obvious bump, but this nearly original condition Cliff May really, REALLY needs to find a sympathetic buyer. Yeah, it’s Pomona, but we can’t all live in Long Beach or the Westside or in modernist masterpieces in New Canaan. You've gotta start somewhere. My only interest in this is ...

Pomona, CA: 1955 Cliff May Modern Ranch House 329,900!

Here’s an affordable Southern California Cliff May in nearly original condition. http://www.csupomona.edu/~jelerma/cliffmay/1866/street_view_small.jpg This house was sold earlier this year but the new owner never took possession. It is now in foreclosure. Other houses in the neighborhood have sold...

There's still time. The exhibit continues until January 20, 2008.

In addition to the wonderful photographs, there's a great hi-def video of Shulman reflecting on his career and recalling just how he made that photo.

So if you only want to see our house you can buy a ticket at the door for just $5. Here are a few photos of the house: http://www.csupomo...

Of the sixty-something houses in the Pomona tract there are only about six that are set at an angle to the street; this one is set at the most acute angle. This makes for some interesting and intimate wedge-shaped garden spaces. I think one of the best things about Cliff May and Chris Choate houses ...

Cliff May Ranch House in Pomona, CA

There's a Cliff May house for sale just 4 doors down from me at 1868 Wright Street in Pomona. It’s going for $379K. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, in 1340 s/f, on a 9000 s/f lot. It has central air. The seller is offering a $4000 credit toward closing costs. The flyer says "motivated seller"...

Yes you may. As may anyone who is even vaguely interested in the Pomona Cliff Mays. Sadly it's kind of hard to "sell Pomona". The problem isn't so much the location (it's at the nexus of several freeway and you can be downtown in 30 minutes), but the neighborhood (there's no "there&qu...

It looks like that area of Hollywood called Mt. Olympus. It's just above Hollywood Blvd. and just east of Laurel Canyon Drive.
