A. Quincy Jones -NY Times

There is a nice little piece in today's NY Times about the A. Quincy Jones fall tour being put on by the MAK Center in West Hollywood. Some great pics! http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2007/09/26/garden/20070927CURRENTS_index.htm http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/09/26/garden/27currents2.jpg ...

Perhaps the Sunset book "Carports and Garages" could be instructive in finding a solution? I have a copy of it at my weekend home.....but neglected to look at it over the weekend

Jesgord... FLW detested garages. In his book "The Natural House," he makes his distaste for them quite clear. Don't get me wrong...I made it clear that I wouldn't enclose the carport myself. I just think it important that our homes be functional.....I wish my house had a carport

Futura Girl, While I would not alter the carport if I owned the home referenced in this thread, I feel compelled to challenge the assertions that you make above. As Stephen pointed out, one of the thrusts behind the modernist homes movement was to provide livable spaces that work for their owners. A...

Lastly (and my favorite idea). Use the roll-away screen from above...but with a couple of modifications. Use opaque sail cloth as mentioned. Also, mount is on the left side, cut the cloth to match the trapezoidal opening, and sew in a nice edge along the top. Lastly, install a small light in the ga...

Sorry for the wise ass comment above. I just think the house looks great with the carport and would hate to see it turned into a garage. :( There are companies out there that make motorized garage screan doors. I once saw a mcm home where the screen portion was swapped out for opaque material (I thi...

I am using them right now for my kitchen and bathroom cabinetry. They have been a pleasure to work with thus far. Our cabinets are not complete, nor have they been shipped or installed. That said, they have been a class act throughout.

Found this on the Wright chat site: I have just listed a home designed by John Randal McDonald. It is very typical o...

Thanks again for all the feedback. Currently working on a major window project... converting the original fixed eight 4x8' windows in the living room to four 8' wide sliders + a deck. I don't have any knobs or pulls yet - I'm still searching for what I want. ! NoHoMod- The whole center cabinet unit looks so clean and great without any knobs. Your kitchen looks great opened up like that! It makes a huge difference and I think complements the space as a whole. Also I love the central core cabinetry with the systems integrated within. Reminds me of some of the fantastic Joe Colombo designed kitchens of the 1960’s. I do not, however, see ...
