Undoubtedly a super cool item. Interestingly enough, fridges and freezers of this wall hanging nature are still used today in commercial settings like ice cream stores. I came across a 1950's commercial freezer of this nature down on the bowery a few years back....I even considered it for my home, b...

I think you are talking about the George Braziller book published as part of the "Master's of World Architecture Series"? I have not looked at it in a while, but I recall I was never too impressed with any of the books in this series. They contain a biography and a brief synopsis of the ar...

I like the overall look of the pool area (the deck supports aside). The way that the pool is integrated into surrounding nature is very nice and lends a lovely organic feel to the whole area. I wonder, however, with all the trees/bushes and especially the ground cover so near the pool's edge, if the...

I LOVE those drawings. The townhouse that Rudolph designed for Alexander Hirsch (until relatively recently inhabbited by the Fashion Designer Halston) in 1967 at 101 Park Avenue is one of my favorite modern town houses in the city. It is set back off the street for privacy and has some incredible in...

We met with the contractor yesterday and were unhappy with any of the options presented by the painter. So, we had him take out his palm sander to take a look at what was underneath the dark stain. To are pleasant surprise, the beams turned out to be a beautiful rough cut grainy cedar. The walls als...

Thank you for the thoughtful replies and kind comments about our house! I'd still to hear what others think. Curious what the cost is. Do you have a Link? The cost at Liz's is $95 for privacy, passage or porch sets. See the link above. The bellwood sets can be found on several latin american websites in brass and stainless. They also seem to make the tulip style handles with wood (brass only it seems). se...

Doorknob Question

I know the topic of doorknobs has been discussed here before. Seems like most people go with schlage/schlage style orbit, tulip, or plymouth sets. I've got my heart set right now on what LA Hardware calls their Bellwood set. See link (they are the wood and aluminum sets on the lower left): http://la...

Kitchen looks great! A couple of Quick question for you about the kitchen beam. How did you go about stripping the beam? Was it painted or stained? How long did it take.
