Way to go, CyclingCoach! Joe in Oregon, here. What wonderful original condition it must be in. Do you have radiant floor heat? Check with your city and county building departments regarding building permit history. That is an advanced design for 1950. More typical in the mid-late 50s. It reminds me ...

That's a tough one. I tried the same thing with my 1940 cape cod several years ago. I used a paint stripper from the local Home Depot. I gave up and painted it.

I would continue looking into other stripping products.

The greater Phoenix area is loaded with affordable mid-century modern homes. Some by noted southern Californian architects Jones & Emmons, Palmer & Krisel, and Cliff May contributed to several tracts. My suggestions is to locate neighborhoods established in the early-mid 50s and drive around. Look f...

The best use of wrought iron for a 50s home would be for furniture, like stools, butterfly chairs, architectural plant pots, patio tables and chairs. It's tough to locate MCM wrought iron furniture because the brands and designers are not well known. Leslie Jackson's book, 'Contemporary' has many gr...

without knowing the names of the designer or manufacturer, eBay will be a waste of time. Without labels or markings, the value is greatly reduced as well in any market. Dunno of many PS swap meets. Maybe someone from PS can answer that. I would shoot some pictures and talk to some vintage shops to g...

You may want to consider consignment with one of the several mcm stores in Palm Springs.

Ebay is not bad as long as you limit your sell area to the LA. Shipping large furniture items can be tough and expensive if you don't know what you are doing.

BTW, any McCobb in your lot?

thanks for the tip on the story. It's nice to see Cliff May get credit for his tract homes. It's significant as this story is the first newspaper article to actually talk about the house. Well, I didn't know a Frey building was torn down for this project. As for modern planning, this development misses the boat and is just another poorly planned strip mall. Reflections of Palm Springs

After visiting Palm Springs this past weekend, I came away with these thoughts... The Orbit In was top-notch, especially the Oasis, where I stayed. High quality service and atmosphere, but not grossly over priced. It would be hard to imagine Palm Springs without the Oasis and Hideaway. The restorati...
