WTD: Looking for Paul McCobb

I recently decided that furniture from the Paul McCobb Planner Group (early 1950s) would be perfect for my home. I am looking for bedroom funiture (dressers, storage) and livingroom furniture (cocktail table, storage, chairs). I check ebay often so I know what's there. I have also looked through goo...

Eugene, OR - mid-century modern fire station offered

Hey guys and gals. I know this isn't LA, but... The City of Eugene os offering a modernist fire hall for public auction on November 20. The 3500 sqft hall, located in the Ferry St Bridge area on the corner of Coburg Rd and Harlow Rd, was built in the late 50s, early 60s. It is post & beam constr...

welcome to the world of ranch homes. we missed you! Sounds like your home was painted for Christmas! The light mint green is cool, some might call it turquoise. Don't go overboard with trim color as some times when all the trim is painted, it makes your home look smaller. I live in a 1955 modern pos...

not to get off the topic of the thread, but these homes are very exciting! I noticed they are built on a modular grid, perfect for panellized prefabrication. They layout is similar to my 1955 Cliff May prefab house: "L" shaped with a courtyard, greatroom concept open plan with galley kitchen, zoned ...

ah, Lee Kline. I really enjoyed his house on the cover of Echos a couple years ago. Quite inspirational. Nice story too. I would sure like to see more of his work. It said he was still working half days in his Pasadena office. Is this still true. Is he still with us? Another question, a bit off topi...

In today's day-and-age, I would not involve an insurance agent in determining how safe a beam is. Nothing good can come from this! That's an easy way to get a claim on your homeowner's insurance, or worse, have your policy cancelled! I am not kidding. The insurance industry has seen a huge increase ...

It was part of a larger project which completely restored (rebuilt) the front facade of my garage/carport. The whole project was about $6000. I would guess replacing the beam was about 1/4 of that. I would consult a structural engineer to determine if the beam, in fact, needs to be replaced. You may...

MCM window coverings were/are drapes, like what paul and m-m said. I have a 16' window wall that I hate to cover, but during the winter nights and during HOT summer days in Oregon, we could use the extra insulation. Our first choice would be pleated drapes, plain white with no decoration. The the co...

Has anyone stepped up to grab this house yet? Moving it is very realistic. A few years ago, a group up here in Oregon successfully moved a FLLW Usonion (Gordon House) 26 miles and it was on a slab. It turned out fine. http://www.oregongarden.org/ghouse/ The link has photos of the move and restoration

Anyone have an extra 6 mil laying around for me? You can visit when ever you want. How about you, M-M, need a third house?

Heck, if 26 people pull up $231,000 each, we could have a wonderful 2-week timeshare in Bel Air!

modfan: the Rummers you are referring to (2 and 3) are of Claude Oakland designs, which Rummer "borrowed" from Eichler in NoCal. Those two models were built that way with the two garage doors. Neither of the models are found in the Blaboa Highlands. These particular models are variations of the mult...
