you can always frost the glass with a 3m film. Which you can experiment with the frostablily.

I agree with a solid slab door.

Interior Trimout

SDR- Up to the minute updates as requested eons of threads back... Here we are starting to trim out w/ birch ply & some Redwood to match existing... We found someone that is going to try to blast the paint off the fireplace wall with dry-ice & cornmeal... We will keep ya posted on the result...

Similar condition here but chimney is off to one side.. But this fireplace takes up less a footprint but doesn't seem to hold up any major beams but does bisect a rafter.
