Did somebody say Hacienda Real? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2339/1880402795_1a5995cf79.jpg Sadly, there's nothing left of the old space as the entire restaurant was gutted to shore up the Eastern building above. Still, I think it would make a great venue for the renewed La Fonda.

It breaks my heart and pisses me off that the LAUSD Board cares so little about this city. All in the name of the children, they say, but what is the Board teaching them besides a lack of respect for neighbors, their neighborhood, history and the future of this city?

Well... I ordered cheap food off of the coffee shop menu and it was ok. The fries, well... Next time I go, I'll try something off of the restaurant menu and see how the kitchen prepares their classier dishes. But, regardless of the fries, you've got to go and just see the place for yourself. It's a ...

Those structures look absolutely pristine. And did I read that right? Barnes and Noble is moving out of the 1939 Art Deco movie house in order for it to be demo'd for a new Barnes and Noble bookstore? I wonder if I need to add them to my hate-Walgreen's-bad-business list.

But the Broadway Bar's neon sign is new. As for the Kaiser Bros. circa 1920-30s neon sign, I'm afraid it went to the recycler in the sky. I haven't called the dealership to find out as I fear the news is bad. I'd have liked to see it go to the Museum of Neon Art but they wouldn't have the room. You'...
