Wattles Mansion

We were at the Wattles Mansion for the Hollywood Heritage holiday party on Sunday. I'd been wanting to see it for a number of years and was surprised that it's in fairly shabby condition, though it's rented out for weddings and other affairs. According to the HH management, the mansion is being take...

Lisa and I were planning to go to the party with a friend, but he got sick. Can anyone give us a ride there and either a ride back or a dropoff at a gold line station? We live in the Fairfax district, but can meet you anywhere between santa monica and downtown. If you can help, please phone me at 90...

Mommy, this link hurts my eyes. Make the bad images go away. I love the neon in Las Vegas, and like the kitsch of the exteriors of many of the casinos, but the interiors of most of the casinos make me puke. I kinda like the exterior of this one, but large parts of the interior reminds me of the int...

Welcome, Kory! Sounds like you're going to fit right in. Personally, I would love to see pictures, if you have them. I only recently became aware of the Doo-Wop motels of the East Coast and regret that I can't take a road trip out there to see (and photograph!) them. Besides Doo-Wop, there used to ...

I am a HUGE Lautner fan, and I must say that I was unimpressed with this exhibition. It's almost as if they covered over the soul of Lautner's architecture with a coat of beige paint. And way too many blueprints! Needed more eye candy, something the great Lautner delivered routinely! CBS Sunday Mor...

I'm really glad to find a simple direct search tool like Google's " Chrome ". It enables me to find what I'm looking for easily, it continually adapts to my way of working. All residential architects- such as myself- do a lot of building product research. Previously I used "Mozilla&q...

They're not on the west side, but I'd definitely add FLW's Hollyhock House and his Ennis-Brown House. It's not a building, but the next time you're near Canter's, I'd suggest you spend some time at the 3rd&Fairfax Farmers Market. It opened on July 12, 1934, putting it a bit early for mid-century...
