NYT article and slide show on Wolf's Lair

A friend used to live right across the street, and we saw it from the inside some time ago when it was up for sale. See if you can find the slightly demeaning/offhanded remark about John Lautner. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/28/garden/28moby.html?scp=1&sq=Wolf's%20lair&st=cse http://www.ny...

Ebell Club?

Does anyone have an idea as to where to look for notices of events at the Ebell Club? (I'm not nearly as interested in attending events as in getting to see the interior!)

The Club's website has nothing on it other than how to rent it for a wedding.

Jewish Heritage Tour of Forever H'wood Cemetery Sun. Jan. 2

“Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place to more of Hollywood’s founders and stars than anywhere else on earth. Founded in 1899, the cemetery was an integral part of the growth of early Hollywood. Paramount Studios was built on the back half of the original Hollywood Cemetery, where th...

Let's revive this fabulous thread! I can't believe that Flushing Meadows and the World's Fair grounds are not included in this thread. If you have enough time to leave the city - this is one of the best places on planet earth. Yes, there's the Unisphere, but there is so much more including the exhi...

Re: MAK Center Architecture Tour 10/10/10

I can't find anything at the URL -- or the links that I've tried -- that relate to the tour. Any idea where to look? Dave The MAK Center is pleased to present its 2010 Architecture Tour on the 100th birthday of renowned architecture photographer Julius Shulman, on Sunday, October 10, 2010. To celebr...

Need a ride

Lisa and I live in the Fairfax district; would like to come, but don't have a car and don't want to take public transportation late at night.

Can anyone give us a ride to the meeting and back? Preferred meeting place would be the Farmers Market, but we're flexible.

Thanks

Lautner buildings in LA county?

We'd like to do a tour of Lautner buildings in LA County, starting in LA, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and other nearby communities and then going further out. We have G&W and the Lautner Society's list of all of Lautner's works. The former doesn't appear to list anywhere near all of JL's work, ...

Re: Wilshire Blvd Walk?

A westside friend long ago suggested walking the length of Wilshire Blvd, in order to get far better views of interesting detail than one gets when driving. Early this January, on a week-long visit to LA, Lisa and I, on a whim, started walking east on Wilshire, from Fairfax. The idea was to walk to...

It's not exactly the case that nobody knew where the western end of route 66 was. You can read where it officially was -- not the SM Pier -- at two different times during its official lifetime in the following article from the NYT. (You can also find out where the idea came from that the terminus wa...
