I heard that the Boat was going to move & that everything else was going. Most of the leasees from the shopping center are already gone, but I think one or two were planning on fighting. My parents live in Arcadia, I'll see what info they have & what the local papers say.

Their current contracts're costing Bombadier something like $10,000 a Day that the monorail isn't open, so I think they want to get the project open ASAP. Everything's ready for the opening except the radio controlled automation system which has to work continuously on it's own for 30 days before it...

Friend Paper goes condo?

There was a sign in front of the Friend Paper Building this afternoon when I drove past (unfortuantely without a camera) stating that it was going to be converted into condos & retail space. There's still desks with paperwork behind the windows, but all the plants are dead & the place smells like we...

MM, I can't remember which building is Googie, maybe the entrance building? I always liked the old Sunset Home Demonstration Garden with it's "California Culture" outdoor room feel. They replaced the old garden in '98, but they only updated the look & feel, not the philosophy of the outdoor room. Au...

Has anyone thought of a Vegas retro-kitch hodge-podge casino/hotel? By "hodge-podge" I mean something like what "New York-New York" is to the actual New York, or "Paris" is to Paris: a collection of old Vegas Kitch culture pieces, downtown neon signs & Rat Pack-abelia combined into a new whole. The ...

People Mover...and something else to worry about
