Actually, the Shag ad can be seen in my video: http://www.vimeo.com/2262243 I was shooting on continuous (2-3 frames per second) with my still camera as long as I could before the buffer filled. Later, I combined those stills into video on my computer. So basically, it's a piece of the Shag ad great...

I can testify that the Shag show they had as a part of the Fremont Street Experience was very cool -- I happened to catch it around April 07. I doubt they're still running it, since the show it was promoting has closed.

Kimba, in Santa Monica I would recommend the Seaview. Their website is here: http://www.seaviewmotel.net/ I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the building dates back to the 1950s. Its a unique structure for a motel, has some nice signage, and is well placed. It's one block from the beach and...

I don't know if they were Plasticville or not, but some of the other buildings we had were: a power plant (that we hid our power supply in), a gas station, a tire shop, a house under construction, and a more traditional 2-story house. The street lights we used included those "grain of rice"...

Wow, that fourth picture down, the house with the balcony over the garage -- I used to have that on an HO scale slot car setup. Best toy my parents ever bought. I was probably 7 or 8 when they gave it to my brothers and I for Christmas, and we played with it for years, building up a tiny village tha...

Modern Monkey, the Space Angel game on your page reminded me of some pinball games I photographed at the 2004 CA Extreme game meet in San Jose, CA. I caught this last night, and I have to say that the footage of L.A. (There! I said it!) spanning the decades is fascinating. I wish I could say the same about the commentary. Is that the origin of these things? I don't think I've actually seen one that said Norge before. The few I've spotted were just polka-dotted balls, like the one on the dry cleaner on Wilshire in West LA.

I don't think this exhibit was entirely successful. For one thing, the images recreating the views outside of the houses are so faint that they can barely be seen through the models. There is an over-reliance on architectural drawings that convey very little information about what he was visualizing...
