No, Spike. But the Landmark Commission asked about it during their last meeting. I guess they were concerned that work seemed to have stopped at the location.

Santa Monica is becoming quite adept at saving the fronts of buildings. I can walk down the streets of my city and proudly proclaim, "There used to be a great movie theater there. And over there, a great deli!" Meanwhile, the flavor of the community is getting diluted...

I attended the Monday meeting, but after two and a half hours of discussion about landmarking the trees on 2nd and 4th street, I left.

The SM Daily Press announced two days later that the commission had voted to protect the facade of the NuWilshire.

I've shot some of the same places as you, but for the most part I like your shots better. Partly I think it's because you live there and are able to take advantage of magi...

Have you had a look at the Conservancy's walking tours?

Look for the link on the left, or at the bottom of the page. Although most of these are not "modern," you might find something of interest there.

Yes, FinFan, that's the one. From what I've read, the roof was supposed to go over a gas station outside of LAX, as a companion to the Theme Restaurant. I don't know why it ended up in Beverly Hills.
