In my opinion laminate tends to look less cheap when used with plain metal edge molding vs a laminate or rolled edge. I believe by the early sixties laminate edges were the more or less commonplace with metal edging becoming obsolete but I still prefer the latter.

You're on the right track by making comfort a primary concern. I used to have this very comfy but worn out leather recliner that was far from pretty, eventually I decided it was time to replace it. I had tried the Eames Lounge and a few nicely done replicas, yes it must be one of the most comfortabl...

This is a little old by now but I just found it: http://www.postandbeamrealestate.com/post_and_beam/Blog/Entries/2009/5/23_Altadena_another_Gregory_Ain_.html Looks like somebody finished the flip that was started on this house way back when. They left the courtyard enclosed and overall it's a little...

I don't think they'll fall into those hands. Particularly the one priced at $789, it's well over all of the area comps even updated so it would have to be a major enthusiast. This presumes that somebody with that kind of money 1) would have an appreciation for the architecture as it is, 2) wouldn't...

You're no doubt aware that there are numerous screening options available if you're not too concerned with period-authenticity, check out the high visibility stuff:

I shot a bunch of pictures of the house on Blackhawk during the time it was unoccupied and left unlocked: http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/evermod/MCMs/Northridge/Blackhawk/?albumview=slideshow It seems the floor plan is the mirror image of the house on Reseda (alternate roofline of course).

I can't say what a good idea this thread is. I may just move all my photos from Photobucket to Flickr, I've neglected to do so because my photography skills tend to be somewhat utilitarian at best (but what the heck).

Solar orientation

Though we don't plan on being ready for purchase until late '09 early 2010 my girlfriend and I have been checking out the housing market for quite some time. During our pre-pre-purchase home search I've become somewhat obsessed with solar orientation, considering something with south or south-east e...

It would appear that most of the locations on the last ad were temporary(?) models that were located on heavily traveled thoroughfares and are probably long gone. home_boy, anybody thinking about buying one of the Westmont Cliff Mays should be required to see your house first. This place looks familiar, was it posted here?

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the situation but I guess the important thing is that a nice house was saved from a horrendous make-over or worse.
