me and mdh once painted our 78 vw van with pea green appliance paint out of a rattle can. It really worked great! (ok, we were in college and our standards were different) BUT it did look pretty cool. We were not cooking bacon on it or anything but it held up pretty well to years of roadtrips from ...

Some great looking hi-fis here...it looks like most of the posters here are in Southern California but I thought I'd ask anyway - anyone know a shop in the southeast (close to Atlanta as possible) that works on old tube stereos? I recalled the Fallingwater cement to be a manila color - I expect besides cameras, the weather/time of year may make a difference. (for me it was May, light overcast) If you're down south, FLW's Rosenbaum house in Florence, AL has undergone a thorough restoration and is a nice, easygoing tour (they...

I really like the Northcrest neighborhood - last I looked (a couple years ago) they were in the low 200s - little more than what the Levittownish boxes in my north Decatur neighborhood are going for! This city isn't big on MCM, but as it boomed in the 50s and 60s a number of individual gems popped u...

Re: Help: I need some sort of rubber feet for hairpin legs..

I have seen circular glides that snap onto the hairpin legs. Easy to put on and take off. I don't have any photos unfortunately. they sort of look like this: http://eugenemodern.org/objects/glide.gif I bought some hairpin legs at a hardware store some 20+ years ago and those type feet came with the...

Microcar museum

Don't know if it's been referenced here before, but there's a terrific museum of microcars right here in Georgia - they're pretty much a phenom of 1950s Europe, where scrappy individuals and a few of the big companies created some great minimal cars to help a war-ravaged continent on its feet (or wh...

Maybe you can replace the cabinets and the microwave with some open shelves - you could put your cool stuff on display and be accessible from both sides.
