We ARE loving the house. Although the POs left us with a nice flea problem we are hoping to conquer this week. OTC measures have failed, so we're calling in the pros. We haven't moved in full-time yet because I don't want to take the dogs out there until the flea issue is resolved. As for the origin...

Has anyone used a skylight cover like this?

We've got a huge skylight that would probably be great in California, but in sweltering central Alabama? Not so much. I believe if I were to place some balls of dough just so on the countertop, I could come home at night to tasty chocolate chip cookies! We're looking for a way to block heat and ligh...

Last time I checked, Houston had empty skyscrapers. Why the rush to build another one?

Beautiful staircase.

That's awesome! I remember the "GE Carousel of Progress" but I guess I missed the "House of Tomorrow" when I was a kid. Space Age Polymers. Always the way to go. Although the two-piece molded plastic master bathroom looks suspiciously like the head in my mom's 36-foot fifth-wheel...

Rockabilly - We're not planning on making any changes right away. If anything we'll eventually update the kitchen and baths, but definitely in a sympathetic manner. We're just glad the place is still in pretty much original condition -- no remuddling to undo. We'll probably focus first on the landsc...

Thanks, all. Below is a link to the RE site and multiple photos. Furnishings belong to the current owner. The layout is completely symmetrical. Great room with dining area to the left and living area (fireplace) to the right. Exaggerated galley kitchen dead center with atrium/planter area. On either...

New Member here . . . just bought MCM in Alabama!

The Deep South isn't known for its embrace of progress, so the husband and I were psyched to come across an MCM gem on three acres. It's a 1978 build of a Mid-5os Better Homes and Gardens plan. The story is that the original owner/builder carried the plans around for years, but wasn't in a position ...
