Sometimes you have to stop and savor a moment...

Ahhhh.

Think of it, destruction of a Big Lots!, KFC, and Pic n' Save, to build a film museum.

That's some redevelopment I can get my arms around.

It's best to not drill. Especially if it is an original.

Use a smaller pot inside, and put spaghnum moss around it to disguise the pot.

"Munich" interiors

Just saw the new Speilberg movie, "Munich" and have to commend the set designers and art dept guys on this one. The 60's- 70's modernist stuff is very well showcased in this one. One of the charachters is an antiques dealer specializing in early Danish modernism, and the interiors were very well out...

VCT care (or to mop n' glo or not)

Curious as to your collective opinion is on this... I have about 2 years on my Armstrong VCT in the kitchen and bathroom. In that time, I've just used Murphy's Oil soap and water to keep it clean. It needs a good cleaning every couple of weeks, and if it's been a while, it needs some spot scrubbing ...

Actually Eames Lounges did have 4 to start with. There was a workplace law passed later on (think around 80 or so) that required chair bases to have 5 legs for greater stability. The number of legs is related to age, not brand. However, one thing you can distinguish a true Eames from a knockoff is t...

I've been by this place, and it's rather boring to look at. If I remember correctly, it is painted a silver/gray, and if you don't know the address and map location, you'll pass it. It's in the same neighborhood as the Schindler house on Mulholland and Laurel Canyon, and down the road from Schulman'...

Another source is McMaster Carr: http://www.mcmaster.com/

Check out page 644 at the bottom. It's an outdoor 120v bullet light. For around $35, it's a lot cheaper than the Rejuvanation stuff, and is the same model used in a lot of midcentury houses from new.

Oh, and an architectural grade low volt lighting system is available for around $60 that would be the icing on the cake for your set up. Horsetail looks bitching at night when it's uplit.

Dude... Get thee to the Lowe's in Burbank and get an automatic drip system made by Rain Drip. They have a kit that is around $12 for the drip system, and another $24 gets you an automatic dripper thingy you attach to your spigot. Get a "Y" adapter for the faucet, and you can still use your hose by t...
