If you can squeeze another museum in the National Building museum is about 3-5 blocks from the Spy Museum. Looking forward to what you think of it all.

I love DC. I get to go there every Thanksgiving for the lil' Mrs' show she shoots there every year.

I work in aerospace and do a lot of metal repair engineering. I'll bet you anything that what you need is not soldering with tin or lead. It will likely be at least silver brazed or brass brazed. Brazing means that it is flame melted and applied metal and is usually referring to harder alloys than t...

Let me ramble my thoughts for a moment... Joe, I'd have to say that although Japanese architecture influenced the style of architecture of modernism, the fundamental difference of modernism vs other architecture was throwing away previous styles that were dictated by their methods of manufacture. Hm...

Louis Sullivan is THE father of modernism. The skyscraper was the first truly modern building. That is, if you consider modern to be more than simply a style, a fashion, a fad... Other buildings and vernacular styles may have had a lack of ornamentation and may appear to be similar to what we now co...

Vintage Stove Heaven is a great place if you have way too much money to deal with. Honestly, the only thing that place has going for it is good marketing and ability to get their name out in the media. They are by no means the only folks out there doing the type of work that they do. Do you really b...

angie's list?

So, has anyone tried angie's list? Is it worth it? Has it reached the tipping point in membership that there is enough saturation to give you plenty of opinions on contractors/service providers?

Thanks,

Look at item 1700K34. Second row of illustrations from the bottom... about the middle. These look like the exact items that I've seen on several midcentury houses here in LA. The light can be attached to a junction box punch out hole by standard jam nut fittings. I wouldn't be surprised if these lig...

You've got to go to Silverlake- the highest concentration of modern homes is in that area. Here is a good site to start you off with (although you should get the LA Guide to Architecture): http://www.laokay.com/Architecture.htm Print yourself up some maps and you'll have plenty of stuff to see. the creeping car thread returns!

Ours is the cheese whiz with bug eyes. Have you checked out subiegal.com? Before you get the STI, you should check out the new Lancer Evo. It has a 10 year 100K warranty, and all the reviewers say it's even better than an STI. Haven't had a chance to drive a new Evo, but the 3 year old Evo I drove h...
