Speaking of the How House, mwlactor, any chance you could give a tour? I'd be happy to help out with work in exchange. Make me haul stuff, sweep, clean if you want. I could get you in the Neutra VDL in exchange.

I agree with other replies to your queries, sparkle. Don't try to make it something its not. It does seem to be very true to the period of when it was built. Go with that and look to period styles of finishing and materials first, and pick stylistic elements from that period that you like. Research ...

Also, there's a related story in the latest Interview magazine about the breakup of Sinatra and Ava Gardner, and the damage inflicted to the Palm Springs residence. I might also add, the article has one of the most flattering quotes about old blue eyes that I've ever heard, attributed to Ms. Gardner...

Man o man that is so cool!!

You need a black modern planter though, in my opinion. Something like a gainey or architectural pottery. You could use that to hide the hose.

No, there was no architectural significance. It was orignally a nice mid century house built into a steep hill. Somewhere along the way, a previous owner was a contractor who added on without permitting, some stuff was not to code. The place was in sad shape aesthetically, but had "good bones.&...

Mark, don't take it too personally... folks on this webboard can be a little tough on the new realtors.

I sure the place will go to someone who appreciates it.

I know this house well. It has been very skillfully re-built and the level of finish is excellent. The guy who did the work on it is a freind of mine, and I helped him with some of his choices. This place could have easily been re-muddled into a Tuscan McMansion. I'm very happy that it didn't. I don...

I noticed something interesting about this one... it says "deasy/penner & partners" in the realtor's logo. Does this mean that Mossler Deasy and Doe have split up?

Nice house, up and coming neighborhood. A steal.

Makes me want to put mine up for sale and put a bid.

So a guy changes his route on the way to work, and decides to cut through a deserted yard that borders an insane asylum. He's very satisfied with himself because this new route allows him to cut 10 minutes out of his daily walk. However, being near the insane asylum kinda freaks him out. During the ...
