tar paper is easy enough to put up, but i think it's overkill... then again, my sink area doesn't get that wet. if you have it, it's only take a few minutes to tack up, so you might as well at this point. good luck with the project. take lots of pix.

we've used DAL keystones (Black D311) for the floors of our bathrooms without problem (sealed with tilelab penetrating sealer). i'd imagine a bath floor would take more abuse than a backsplash. for a kitchen backsplash, tar paper and backerboard is overkill, methinks. many folks install backsplash t...

we've been happy with the black -- which, with it's already speckled pattern (standard black excelon), doesn't show as much dirt as you'd think. laid in one direction, it also look near continuous.

the underground cans would make automated pickup impossible, no? -- likely the reason for their demise. in concord, we have city codes that forbid cans in plain sight other than on pick-up day -- not like anyone enforces it, but it's there... while we keep ours behind the fence in the side yard, the...

re-screening screen doors (norcal/eastbay resource?)

neighbors... we need to re-screen our screen doors. i know this is a pretty wide-board (geographically), but if anyone has a good resource (sfbay/eastbay) resource (other than "do a google search"), it'd be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. also, if you happen to know a general cost ...

not that you asked, but cutting off 3 inches per side on over 2000 tiles hardly seems worth it to me. the cutting/squareness needs to be perfect, of course, as these use no grout and need a precision fit. for what it's worth, though, they cut well on the table saw. very well. we really like our blac...

i'd imagine it'd work on both -- it's not a chemical reaction, but a physical process. the only snag i'd see is attaching the equipment to the pipes. you can certainly call ace dura flow... there's likely a vendor down south, too.

happy to give reports when/where we can. i'm not sure e-pipe would be great for radiant -- simply because of the heat transfer (plastic vs. metal) issue. this repair was for a potable slab leak. when we did have a radiant heat leak, we called anderson heating (sfbay area) -- very, very reliable and ...

Arcadia sliding door parts available (Eichler).

We've salvaged some sliding doors (sliding panels only -- all sizes) from an Eichler house under renovation and will be stripping them (handles, actuators, rollers, etc)... and will be warehousing the parts in our garage for posterity.
