Izzy, if you decide you want to buy a used one, let me know what you are ISO style wise. I go to Habitat once a week or so to cruise lighting and we have a building salvage store with a vast door selection, I can keep my eye out for you.

The roof area served by the 3 drains in question is about 900 square feet. My concern is that there inevitably will be some splashing action during downpours, and perhaps my approx. 2’ soffit isn’t deep enough to avoid splashing the siding. It looks like the roof drain openings are only about a...

Yes, they work fine here, depending on your roof. We have lots of neighbors and some businesses with them. We had one gutterless downspout where the previous owners meant to put a rain chain. After research, we put a downspout there as we would have needed one giant chain to handle the amount of rai...

My all time favorite find is my Grete Jalk for France and Son arm chair - $5. Not really a super deal, but we found 2 dux chairs at a resale shop that we had a $100 credit with, so they seemed free :D I did have to reupholster them though. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk155/harmonythreads/duxc...

Mine are both estate sales finds. The Seth Thomas hangs in the entry way. I liked the simplicity of it. It is just a thick block of wood. I also liked the price ($2) http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk155/harmonythreads/clock3.jpg And a classic starburst from Elgin for the living room. http...

Maybe you all just mean tube fluorescent, but the US is phasing out incandescent bulbs so unless you plan to do a stock piling we will all have to switch to fluorescent in the near future (or LED). We have all fluorescent bulbs (not tube) and they give nice white light. Just depends on the brand you...

We looked at a couple new homes built with these. A local Olympia builder uses them in all his homes. He is a green builder (actual green homes, not just labeled that). He builds craftsman/bungalow style though.

It looks great! My guess was an older scandesign (that is where torring is sold locally). That is such a great price though.

We just drove to Kirkland this weekend for 8 danish dining chairs from CL.

I go to LA to fabric shop a couple times a year. If you don't mind digging and hunting (half the fun - I say!) go to the LA garment district. E.9th and Wall is a good starting place. I just came home with some great 60's prints to recover two Dux and a Grete Jalk chair for less than $7/yard. You hav...

Funny - the comment about "dirty hippy house". Must have been made by some old time Olympian who probably doesn't appreciate the "Greener" aspect of Olympia. It is what the neighbors called it. It was sort of weird though, I've met people that lived here during that time. The ow...

We want to switch to sliders as we really really need more ventilation. The house is hotter inside than it is outside in the summer. We want to be able to leave the door open and have a screen, especially in the bedroom at night. Plus, the french doors kill floor space that makes arranging the rooms...

Olympia, WA - 1958 ranch - all original and great price

I'm not affiliated with this house, just went to an estate sale today and would love to see it find an owner that wouldn't gut the bathroom and kitchen! It looked to be in all original condition and very well taken care of. It had a really great pink and black tile bathroom with pink tub and toilet....
