Re: MCM Indy

Welcome from another MCM fan and owner in Indianapolis. Your house looks great. On what side of town is it? We're on the northwest side. Good to know there are others. We're on the east side in Lawrence. Very close to Avriel Shull's Ladywood estates. Are you in that lovely MCM pocket off of Springm...

I have lived in the house for almost two years now. I am slowly tweaking it to my taste, but leaving it as original as possible. Jesgord, I have uploaded some exterior pictures to my photobucket album. I am not a photographer by any means, so the quality of these pictures are not the best. http://s...

Speaking of doors, does anyone know of a place that sells modern interior doors and matching sliding closet doors? I can find one or the other, but not both. Try: http://www.modernus.com/modernusfrontpage.html Very contemporary, and not cheap but very beautiful. Another, cheaper solution would be t...

Can't help with the plumbing issue but can point you to a website specializing in helping you identify reliable contractors: angieslist.com you have to sign up for a membership but it's well worth it. Take the tour to be sure. I can tell you that our company uses Angie's List all the time and have a...

There IS a chance they contain asbestos. A few things to consider. Do you have a history of the house? Are the panels original or a later addition? If later, when? These answers can help narrow it down but unfortunately no one here can be certain. The only way to be 100% is to have it tested. Or, yo...

Can you tell me where the first two pictures were taken in the Denver blog post? They look a little like the lost "House that Home Built" homes in Denver. Unlike the ones in KC, Denver may have built them without garages. http://www.eichlernetwork.com/ENStry25.html I wrote about the ones ...

Signed up. Look forward to the progress. Is it possible to hide our email addresses from the guest book? Get a little nervous when those are floating out there.

A door to the affordable side - Found Source: Custom Doors

Does anyone out there make affordable doors for the mid-century modern aficionado? Thankfully, yes. Custom doors by Shannon Walker. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_YCiU623tb04/SNZkigAX37I/AAAAAAAAAHM/bBtAZBx2Krg/s1600/orange.jpg Met Shannon through Ebay after stumbling upon a stunning door. She's very fri...

Re: I think

there's another neighborhood called Krisana Park, which looks like where some of the pics were taken. Yes, that's the one. I couldn't recall off the top of my head. Thanks for filling in the gap. So, Arapaho Acres and Krisana Park are the two neighborhoods I hit. Good stuff. Links to both their web...

Denver, CO. Mile-High Modern

Was just in Denver on business. Had some down time. Explored. Saw several properties for sale. An agency called Mile-High Modern seemed to be listing most of them: http://www.milehimodern.com/ My blog has several pictures of the Arapaho Acres area and another which I don't recall the name of (*edit*...

Restoration in Indianapolis

Good day; Been lurking for months, absorbing a ton of great info from you all. Thanks. We're days away from closing on our Indy MCM. I've started a blog cataloging the purchase and upcoming renovation. I will have tons of questions once we start the real work. Please check out the blog, get a look a...

Indianapolis, IN. Another. Same neighborhood, unrestored.

Again, same neighborhood. Ridiculously good price. The owners have been aggressively dropping the price on this one every couple of weeks. This one is unrestored. Same floor plan as the previous one I posted. Once you tear the ivy and unkempt bush away you have a beautiful brick privacy wall and a g...

Indianapolis, IN. Mid-Century Modern - fully restored

Hey all; I'm about to close on a house myself but wanted to point out that there's a beautifully restored MCM in the same neighborhood at a steal of a price. Check out the pictures at the link below. A lot of love went into this place. The main reason I didn't pick this one was because all the work ...

Greetings from Indianapolis

Hello all. I've been in the shadows for a couple of months now, absorbing all I can. I've decided to step into the light and say hello. My wife and I are moments away from closing on our first home. A great little MCM in Indianapolis. A blog has been started: http://atomicindy.blogspot.com/ Thanks f...
