egads,

I get what you're saying. Wasn't at all offended. Have thought the same at several stages. I love the floor but it does indeed limit certain directions. Have set off on a course and should continue to embrace it rather than fight it mid-stream.

Thanks, guys. Feeling that too. At this point I can't try to force-fit something different than what I've already started. I must now carry through with the initial direction.

Atomic Indy Kitchen Island Survey

I normally keep my blog update posts to the thread I've already started. However this one's a bit different. I've set up a survey soliciting opinions on the direction the backside of our kitchen island should take. Please join in. Poll closes 3/20/09 Here's the link: http://atomicindy.blogspot.com/2...

good, modern design can be timeless. If you are familiar with old shelter magazines and some of the books published in the last fews years on Mid-century Modernism you'll know it's possible to install an Ikea kitchen to work in the same timeless manner. it's usually the counter tops and appliances ...

Your most authentic-MCM-looking Ikea kitchen.

Was just reading the laminate cabinet post started by Sleazy G: http://www.lottaliving.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=14073 Luka referenced several people on the board have used Ikea cabinets. This got me thinking. It would be good to see a thread of all the MCM Ikea kitchens in one place. Please post your ...

Didn't see the vinyl either. Where is it? My house was covered in vinyl (ugh) by some awful flippers who came before me. I've heard from neighbors that the original siding wasn't in bad shape but I too am worried what I will find. Briefly looked into painting vinyl. It's not a paint-friendly surface...

Welcome, Frank.

Dig the house. What's going on behind the cabinet doors on the fireplace wall - is this wood storage?

Look forward to seeing more pics of this evolution. Labors of love.
