Palos Verdes, CA Pierre Koenig

Devildog brought this to my attention. I thought the Oberman house was the only Koenig in PV. This house is not on Pierre Koenig's website, http://www.usc.edu/dept/architecture/slide/koenig/ or Steele's biography. The house has an uncharacteristic fanfold roof. Perhaps a remodel? Block & Board

Probably the least expensive MCM book shelf is the concrete block and board DIY construction. Before we could afford anything better, we had these in our house throughout the 60's, 70's and 80's. Here's a link with instructions: http://www.ehow.com/how_2172527_inexpensive-removable-shelves.html

Here is the plan of the Van Dekker House. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, four on the second floor and one on the third floor. They are described by Schindler as two guest rooms, nurse, maid, two child's rooms and one bedroom. The maid and the nurse rooms are really small at approximately...

Bowler House

SDR information is correct, Eric Wright oversaw renovations to the house in 1991. If the house had been unoccupied or neglected for a number of years, there could be much to restore. I had just seen FLW's Fawcett house in Los Banos, already plaster and paint are falling off the eaves. The house appe...

Stephen's Front Yard

There is definitely a need for a transitional space between the street and the front door. I really don't see the lawn solving any of Stephen's concerns. Chimay, SDR, and egads have some very good suggestions. I would tend to side with Chimay and egads on the enclosure, but heed SDR’s suggestions ...

SDR-While I don't suppose Oscar was looking North for inspiration, I was going to say that such an idea is so "natural" -- an irregular roof floating over rectangular plan shapes -- that we should have seen a lot more of it than we have, over all these years -- don't you think ? Well, jus...

You're too kind. The Everett house is a remarkable find, particularly considering the date. Even more remarkable would be a relationship between the two designs.
