I like the pocket door bookshelf idea. We personally have 2 pocket doors in our MCM and I wish we had 2 or 3 others that were..... they would just function better as pockets. I would search flickr for Mid century modern shelving or Danish shelves for a layout that you are fond of.... something just ...

Well, we finally got it off... one of the wheels was not down. All of our other doors have pilot holes to adjust the wheel up and down, but not this one. So we drilled some. The previous owners had put so much grease on the track trying to get the door to move. I cleaned out the track with a bunch o...

Wood, I imagine pine... it came primed and we painted it. If you look close in the old pics you can see the door had lots of rivets in it. The new "replacement" panels have none, just nice smooth flat wood. I like it even better than the old one :)

HERE this helps A LOT!!!! they are reversed views from how I took the pics. of course on the plan north is up and I took the pics looking south, but you can grasp the layout better. as you can see on the left of the plan our dryer is in the utility room so the vent is on the outside. the outlet on t...

EGADS... exactally like the first "drawing" is what I am thinking. I will see if I have pics. The planter is being disassembled and moved to use as a small retaining wall, off the left front of the garage. I think you can see in the first pic there is an electric outlet and a dryer vent, I...

I personally would choose a warmer white. I also like enamel that matches the wall color. The less contrast in a modern home the better. Also, you can get 1 3/8" solid core doors. This helps a little with sound and allows a robe hook to be screwed into the back of bath, closet and bedroom door...

THANKS... why do sites need to change things LOL this is the area from the Garage (left) to the house (right) our access walk and all utilities will then be hidden. this will give all emphasis to the front door as you come up the walk not the distractions to the left :) http://farm2.static.flickr.co...

Fence/Wood Screen

We are looking to put a screen or fence between our garage and house. I was going to attach some photos, but realized flickr took the html out of their site for now... ugh. so I will attach my flickr link http://www.flickr.com/photos/rfdtechbuilt/ The fence will be a pass through, 2 screens so to sa...

We are looking at refinishing our slab (plan A) in the next few months. So I think that the birch doors will bring some warmth to the house. I know that one or 2 will need to be replaced since the veneer is chipped on some corners. Good to know that can be done. We have 4-5 free months in the winter...

birch doors

We have all birch doors in our house, however they have been painted white. The trim in the house has been painted white also. I was wondering if anyone has stripped the doors only and left all the trim white??? if so were you happy with the results? I just feel we are overwhelmed by white, the only...

Right now I have not done anything to it. I cleaned all the lacquer off, with pain thinner. Other than that nothing. Underneath it's just a shiny silver color, that does not look half bad with the rest of it a brass color. We have been waiting to renovate to decide what to do with it. Kind of all de...

just assuming here. But the amount of light from a few solar tubes would equal a sky light??? We have had both our interior skylights replaced in the past 10 years. The porch skylights are original with the porch additions (6-7 years old). one of the porch skylights leaks a small amount if the rain ...

We have sky lights in the bath and hall. We also have them on the porches. we hardly ever turn on a light in these rooms. In fact I always try to turn off the light in the bathroom even though it's not on. It's nice because in the middle of the house we get natural light with the skylights.

Miguel, that is a real nice structure! I wish I had the space to add that also.

Dave, I have seen the plans for that one. I need something bigger and more inclosed, but is a jumping off point!

Thanks joe! We have this "thing" next to our garage. Originally, it was a dog run. the owners even put in a heated concrete pad for the winters. The next owners put a deck over it, because they didn't know what to do with it. The deck is VERY odd and serves no purpose. I was thinking it is...

sheds

I really don't want a shed, but we need one. Our mower, snow blower, generator, leaf blowers, gas cans and such take up too much garage space. It will be a "garden" shed. I would like it to have potting space and space for garden tools also. I have been keeping an eye out for anything that...

one other thing: garages are for autos, not storing crap in. I swear most people don't park in their garage anymore because it's stuffed full of crap!! This REALLY bothers me also, but we are running into issues with our garage storage. We are on about 2 acres here and are allowed a shed, which we ...
