Glad to hear things went your way. On that reason (and due to cost and disruption) they indicated they were against the invasive alternative to widen the road. Most cities/states/municipalities are pretty much broke but they don't like to say that so I think you were a little fortunate there. In boo...

Sorry to hear about your situation. Maybe in the best case you'd get $78k and wouldn't lose much/any home value if you want to sell down the road. I know that is being very optimistic on my part. If you do lose value you should petition immediately to get your prop tax rate reduced. I know in CA the...

Wonder if anyone has ever done a study on predictions vs reality what actually happens vs what was predicted and how much they were right or wrong. Look through some mags from the 50s and 60s that try to predict the future and you can see how right or wrong they are. I remember that in the 60s - re...

Gen Y doesn't want McMs

Kind of a dumb article - these kids have no home buying power yet and they are assuming designs based on that and them not having kids - the Y'ers have no idea how much kids will change things. But as long as they can play their Wii's who cares right? http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/no-mcmansions-...

I remember as a kid on vacation circa 1961 as we drive into SF seeing all those 'ticky tacky' houses, it looked very monotonous then, perhaps because it was pretty new, now I drive up there and it's softened quite a bit I hope - for whatever reason - that something like that will happen with McMans...

Looks fantastic!
And yes modern types seem to prefer orange. The wife's favorite color and I use it in almost every painting I make!
Keep up the good work.

The other day I heard an old song that always gets me ticked off - the folksy one from the '50s about neighborhoods of 'little boxes made of ticky-tacky'. F That song was used on the opening theme of the show Weeds for a couple of seasons. I don't mind it as much tho it does bring to mind the notio...

I suppose the big question is, how much of this "trend" is simply the result of a bad economy? That's it in a nutshell. As soon as the money starts flowing again you can look to everyone pouring back into McMansions. I find it interesting that 90% of what I read regarding the suburbs is n...

Wasn't dissing Detroit - I wouldn't live somewhere that cold if I had the choice. I see all these yahoo articles about the best places to live and they all seem to be in the frozen northern tundra. To me those areas have a HUGE hurdle with the weather issue. jmho http://www.clarksdaleplace.blogspot....

As a painter I am supposed to like this stuff but I kinda had to sigh a little. Maybe in school I would have dug it more. It's phrases like this: Carroll wants the fixed-up structure to become a laboratory for “innovative building and communication technologies and cultural programming.” She hopes t...

Just as she had to deal with the discovery of a man's burned torso in the underbrush across the street a few months ago. Reason number 232,342 to say it is time to leave.!!..
