Thanks so much guys I'm loving all the suggestions as its helping me with the MCM element of the two rooms. Personally I love the MCM style when coupled with a modern contemporary elements most, hence what you see developing. My goal is not to create a complete throw back to the 50's era nor a time ...

We are in some what of the same process. I now have my husband on board and it is much easier. We are FAR from done with swapping furniture, but it will be a fun couple of years looking for it. I think you could drastically change the style with just changing out some of the pots on the plants. add...

Suggetions for my NorCal MCM hybrid interior

Ops just realized this should have been in the furniture forum sorry, moderators please.. Well I'm pretty much done. We came from a huge suburban McMansion type (my wife loved it) down to a 1200 sq ft MCM in the bay area (my love) due to a transfer of employment. Needless to say we had to get rid of...

Don't like'em at all. I think its the open shelves thats ruining it for me.
Because the space is so small it looks cluttered and work-shop messy and makes the kitchen look even smaller.

I don't know those jones mha kitchens up there look like they are out of an old greasy spoone mom and pop burger joint. They're soooo, obnoxiously Dwell like. Trying way to hard to be natually-minimalisticly-modern if I can express it that way. As you can see I'm not fond of Dwell magazine.

I often wondered about this as well. I walked through the whole house and examined all beams and posts etc and to my eye everything looks good considering all the earthquakes the house experienced since it was built in 59'. I suppose too it helps that the house was built mostly on rock mass on the s...

Yeah 600K for 1200 sqft is preposterous but then you add in prime cali location with views etc and the price soars. The house is very nice good charactor. This floor plan would be lovely at 2500 sqft, this feels a bit cramped even with the simple furniture looking at the photos.

This particular Eichler is my favorite floor plan at this square footage. Yikes that roof is horrid i'd rather have (to the rear of the house) exposed roof mounted HVAC any day.

Its amazing how small the furniture make the house look inside. Classic traditional American designed wood funinture really kills these houses.

Nice modest home, and I love the garage door myself, would never buy one though the price is too cazy. Funny, the white Saarinen tulip dinning table they have actually looks to be the Docksta table (Ikea's version) Ha I just looked at that table both at Knoll (top is always rounded) and at Ikea (top...

Yeah I hear ya, I too have a few books myself but sometimes it would be nice to have some of these at my finger tips for the times I'm sitting in Starbucks having a cup of mocha while I wait on my wife when she's shopping. Unfortunately I don't get a lot of sit down time at home. With two kids 7 and...

Yeah I was thinking the same, by the time I'm done buying cushions and leather and polishing the bases it'll cost me more than I'm willing to put out.
Funny thing is they were gone within the week.
Oh wells someone else can deal with it.

New to me too. Leave it to California. Architects were just having too much fun in the 50-60's.

I don't think I care for this though. Although fun its doin a bit much for me.

Has anyone been able to find some good MCM books besides Atomic Ranch on ibooks? I'm having a hard time locating anything home/design related on this program. Hopefully its something simple I'm not doing.

Yeah I've ordered a few promo items from them, and I've been left disappointed as well. I believe they use Cafe Express to do their stuff, I think they need to change vendors. I ordered their Atomic Ranch T-shirt from them the print was blurry just horrible, but I kept it anyway since I waited so lo...

Weathered Bacelona Chair, worth repair?

I often stop by a particular furniture consignment store and on my recent visit I saw that they had two badly wheathered Cassina Bacelona chairs. They look as though they have been sitting in storage uncovered for the last 20 years. The leather is totally finished the straps are ok but no where near...

I believe Herman Miller and Vitra (the only two licensed manufacture of the Eames chair) will always have their name on the underside of the chair. Some knockoffs are really good copies and require a trained eye to know the differences anywho If there’s no visible label, how do you know you’re getti...
