From wikipedia: The first movie studio in the Hollywood area, Nestor Studios, was founded in 1911 by Al Christie for David Horsley in an old building on the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Gower Street (today Columbia Square). In the same year, another fifteen Independents settled in Hollywood. Creat...

Damien, I'm not sure how much renovating CCircus may get. The elimination of the RV park and the motel rooms, if I remember the property correctly, is a large chunk of space. Look for that to go condo/mixed use. I think rather than renovate CCircus, MGM/Mirage may chose to implode and start from scr...

Las Vegas Sites Then and Now

Damien. Bernard of Hollywood did have a studio at the Riviera but it is likely that the area it was in was remodeled years ago. RoadsidePictures may know for sure. At the Sahara, Louie Prima and gang used to perform in the Casbah Lounge. The camel statues, I believe, are long gone. As for downtown, ...

MM, You might want to call and make sure they are open. Allen went last night, said the place was packed and that they ran out of food so they might not be open tonight for food. Drinks, however, they might be serving. If they had announced earlier that they were closing, they probably would have do...

Mary Kaye

Her funeral will be on Saturday, Feb. 24th.

Afterwards they are planning a jam session at the Sahara Hotel. I would think it will be quite a session given how beloved she was and the lounge entertainers in Las Vegas who got their start because the MKTrio made it possible.

Roadside,

There used to be a Norge Village next to the old Red Rock Theatres and the now gone Rice Paddy Bar. About all that remains of the original businesses around there are the West Hills Barber and the Pool Supply company.

I love the Mars Auto Supply ad.
