Although your pic is gone...from what I recall, they looked like Overman AB "Tango" chairs You mean the ones designed by Joe Colombo?! Only kidding, I am just so tired of everything modern and plastic being attributed to him (usually by clueless sellers), like the seemingly ubiquit...

Is Wright saying that the "spray" sculptures that everyone has always thought to have been designed by Bertoia were actually not designed by him, even though one like yours were in fact produced by Knoll (i.e., were not knockoffs)?

Redneckmodern, I enjoyed your pictures -- thanks for sharing. What is the story behind the colorful metal "found object" sculptures shown in the one photo? I lived in Palm Springs for several years and drove past those sculptures a number of times, but I never knew who had created them or ...

I don't have experience with the Zodiaq line, but if you like the look of thick white countertops, I have been very pleased with the solid-surface ones we had installed in our kitchen a few years ago. Corian used to be the only brand, but their patent has expired; we went with a competitor, High-Mac...

What a find! Given that the seller only listed it as "vintage architectural model," I'm actually surprised that it even got up to $300. However, if they had thrown in some choice keywords, it seems like the final price would have been much higher.

With a house this "grand," I am rather surprised that there are only two bedrooms -- especially given the large size of the master and the presence of four bathrooms.

I agree -- I've never seen an agent use Breuer's name to try to sell a non-Breuer house. I'm sure that most potential buyers are scratching their heads at that reference.

Road trip to Ikea, perhaps? That is what we ultimately had to do when our daughter was ready for a twin bed. There are a lot more companies making modern children's furniture these days, but I honestly cannot think of any place except Ikea where a modern bed frame can be purchased for under $500.

I just spent a New Years Eve Party at a house that is filled with the designs of Sottsass. There were probably over 200 pieces! Pieces from different eras, or all Memphis? I saw a photo recently of a house that was furnished literally 100% with Memphis items, from the art (framed Memphis posters an...

I really dig the screen that you fabricated! Where do I sign up for one? I can't ever seem to find a standard screen that is wide enough to cover the entire opening in our fireplace (to say nothing of finding one with the appropriate aesthetics).

Doesn't every <20% down payment situation require PMI? Not if you get a second "piggyback" loan. For instance, in the past, I've purchased homes with a 10% down payment, 80% main mortage, and 10% second mortgage. Because the second mortgage is essentially an "equity" loan, this ...

Although my current house is not MCM (think early 70s modern), all of the windows -- dozens and dozens of them, in identical widths but varying heights -- have the original dual-pane glass, courtesy of Andersen. In a Chicago suburb about 10 years back, we had a 300 year old oak -- one of the oldest and largest in the county -- cut down because the new homeowner was afraid of squirrels. While I certainly wouldn't go to the extreme of cutting down a 300-year-old tree, the homeowner's fear of squirrels may no...

I'm having the same issue with my fireplace. I've used the "fire on ice" crushed glass in the past, but it was in a sleeker, hard-edged fireplace, and I don't think it would look that great in the current one (natural stone, more organic-looking). I like the stones you posted. Any idea wha...

Yes, CSH #21 is the one that was sold via auction at Wright. I'm surprised that it is still sitting empty. I read somewhere recently that the house was purchased by a woman from Korea, so maybe she is still organizing a trans-continental move.
