Yellow

Slim, I saw the same range and oven at Antique Stove Restoration last week.

Sunday, the proprietor, might be willing to deal.

Osaki Residence

I couldn't find any architect info on the original permits, but apparently this was the long-time residence of modernist jewelry designer Harry Osaki. According to a cursory Google search, Osaki "was a prominent silver/gold smith and jewelry designer. His work was collected by the Vatican and S...

Greatest generation

I would argue that for the generation that lived through it, the Depression was a very scary experience and for the rest of their lives, encouraged people to enjoy the good times when they came, but also to always be frugal and safe. It doesn't seem to me that the Depression had any real impact on t...

Ah darn...

I'm sorry to report that the trip has been postponed until later in the year.

Until a new date is determined, one can check www.larail.com for other upcoming trips featuring a number of different historic train cars.

Nearly all of these trips originate from Union Station in Los Angeles.

The 1955 Aristocrat was sold, but the (more decorative, in my opinion) 1950 Aristocrat is still available:

Some options

You are fortunate that Glendale has at least some design review for by-right construction, unlike my own hometown of Los Angeles.

Contact the Glendale Historical Society. They will be able to help you:

Good luck.

Left out of the story...

This article was disappointing in how much it left out. Barlow's redevelopment is much more complex than this snapshot would lead readers to believe. Below are some comments that were posted on Curbed: There are a few facts left out of this complex story. First, it is important to know that Barlow h...

Midcentury train trip - LA to San Diego & back - 1/24/09

Themed trip aboard original restored cars. Period dress encouraged.

Will likely include the 1949 Overland Trail lounge car, a former Modcom meeting location.

Another hardware source

Crown City Hardware in Pasadena has some starburst escutcheons (which they got from the Pasadena Habitat For Humanity store on Fair Oaks.)

It might be a few cents cheaper than Liz's.

Habitat for Humanity, if they have them, will be dramatically cheaper.

Good luck.

CL - FS - Walnut dining set - 1962

I just posted this set to Craigslist:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/fuo/809820920.html

We used it for many years in our '20s apartment, but it just isn't gonna cut it in our little Victorian.

Hope someone out there can give it a good home.

Thanks,

Kevin

FS - CL - Yellow '55 O'keefe & Merritt "Hi-Vue"

Here's an ad for a stove I just posted on Craigslist L.A.

I had restored it for our own use, but the original yellow porcelain didn't work with our final kitchen color.

It's a beauty that someone out there will appreciate:

Thanks!
