Hi Lynn, Out of the thousands and thousands of postcards I've gone through in my 17+ years of collecting, this is the only one I've ever seen. I'll make you a good copy  ! The Travelodge was built in 1964 and Musso's was next door...was 1460 KENO originally on this spot? I seem to remember ear...

We had four Denny's boomerang style buildings on the strip. One next to the Dunes (became a gift shop in the 1980s), one next to the Sands (shown below), one attached to the Westward Ho and one just north of the Stratosphere (the only one still standing). http://members.aol.com/yaketyyak72158/founta...

Glad to see the original building exposed. The Golden Gate Casino on Fremont Street (Las Vegas) shed its 1960s steel mesh to expose a clean building dating to the 1920s. I would like to see other casinos follow...Binions is actually a beautiful brick building which opened as the Hotel Apache and wha...

I came across a truckload of Heywood Wakefield up north. It was being used in a small gift shop...each piece covered with a tablecloth except for the credenza which they were using in their office. They were quite suprised when I asked if the furniture was for sale...with the economy being so bad up...

Dinah's Original Pancake & Chicken House Googie Interior

Are there any Dinah's still standing in the L.A. area? If so, any pictures of the exterior? *** This was located in Phoenix:

Not one, SDR...we have many with the boomerang style. They skipped the cupcake and went to the box style. Denny's took over Uncle Johns Pancake House and I think a couple of former Sambo's of the later generation.

Fifty years ago today, Bill Haley and His Comets hit number one with the song "Rock Around the Clock". Does anybody here remember this?

SDR: While it might be difficult to quantify, I wonder if Denny's feel that their success owes something to their choice of architect? I believe they feel that they owe their success to their infamous "Grand Slam Breakfast" and their wonderful new "Denny's Diner" concept (which looks about a...

That's it Nichols! Glad to know it's still standing! Too bad the sign on the top is gone.

I tried calling Rissman & Rissman and found that they haven't had that number for two years. I thought Lee Linton lived here in Las Vegas but not sure.

Does anybody know what year this motel was built and has the place lost its googieness? I tried looking it up on the L.A. County Assessors website but don't want to fork over the $200.00++ they want to open an account :?! The Caravan had a restaurant, coffee shop and a cocktail lounge. It was design...

Though the doors closed many years ago I could see the building still contains displays, soda bottles and other relics from its past. http://members.aol....

I've never seen a Nickerson Farm...are they still in business? We always stopped at Stuckey's on vacation. There's a vacant Stuckey's in Kingman and one between Las Vegas and Henderson that's been turned into an eyesore/teen freak-show niteclub.

Kingman, Arizona Route 66 A-Frame Then and Now...

This used to be the Lake Mead Rancheros Restaurant, Motel and Bar. It is located several miles east of Kingman on Highway 66 and is now a private residence. The place looks terrible now...kinda reminds me of a KOA camp ground.

The Hughes Corporation not only owned the original Castaways but also the Desert Inn, Frontier, Sands, Silver Slipper and the Landmark. In the late 1980s MGM acquired the Desert Inn and Sands. The Silver Slipper Casino was demolished for Frontier parking in the 1980s.

For your viewing pleasure :D : The original Castaways was where the Mirage volcano is. Before becoming the Castaways around 1962 it was the Sans Souci Casino & Motel which started as a tiny motel around the late 1930s. http://members.aol.com/yaketyyak72158/1.jpg http://members.aol.com/yaketyyak7...
