19 that's awful

We went to this new Italian restaurant here in Shreveport tonight, and the whole family was like a new senior center. No character, no class. Just a lovely L.A. hipenanddickural sand color all over. Not one bit of kitsch. The daters were in the green room, and the geriatric crowd in the beige room. ...

shreveport has a lot of mid c. examples still around. Here this weekend from CA. It seems like the government only cares about building new things rather than holding its character.

Nucleus art gallery exhibit - Alhambra, Main Street

It was a flashback animators paradise. I was singing I am "mr. heatwave, I am mr. ice"... the whole time. Myths and War stories abound as that was the theme of the showing. Medusa, Yeddis, Trojans, and a comical Golleum(SP?). 4 animators who worked on the Incredibles (PIXAR) live back thei...

Heroes of Horticulture accepting nominations due 4/15/07

Copied off the TCLF.org site: Do you know a significant tree, orchard, park planting or other horticultural feature that has almost miraculously demonstrated its ability to stand steadfast in the face of natural and cultural challenges and survived, even against all odds? To honor and help preserve ...

Here is the facts...

Council is FOR MEASURE L - they get to put their name on the building. But why not an addition. Drive on Monday, Like I will, and put up your homemade 'no L = no new taxes!' There it is... the newspaper SGV Tribune is pro-, so that is all we got. 60% yes to pass.

Going to Monrovia this weekend?

Don't forget your homemade sign to put onto your car? NO ON L - no new taxes! Look for a black van cruising with homemade signs. See you on the streets of Monrovia.

VOTE NO on measure L

I wish I could post the Monrovia ballot, I am just really bad at photo posting. Anyways, I wanted to say the ballot doesn't share the financial burden that 39,000 residents and maybe 1/4 are not property owners. $17,000,000 and a 30 year obligation to pay by each property owner is really a bad deal ...

Interior of Dorothy Chandler to be remodelled?

I might have been speed reading in the NY Times on Saturday. I swore I read that Dorothy Chandler's interior was going to have a massive remodel finished by 2011. Will not touch the exterior. Anyone have any problems with this? I really like the chandeliers. ALSO the open, spacious feeling, with the...

Thanks for posting...

The drawing provided by the city took out the scale of the park with the new proposed building. The footprint of the building swallows Library Park with is a historical small town park. No trees! no windows at this library, as light in the City of Monrovia will destroy the books, even though it is a...

That photo that Nichols posted sure doesn't look good for the Paladium. Renovations doesn't mean RESTORATION. I saw the most awesome concerts there. I remember each and everyone like it was yesterday.

A - you did a great job on Channel 2 this morning! There should be some jail time for these folks. They'll probably get the ole slap on the hand, and walk away with a don't do this again. I am so so so sad.

Famous Mid Century Mod Hospitals? Is there such a thing?

After spending 4 quality days, including Halloween dressed as a patient, in my local Late Mid Century Mod hospital, completed in 1973, I got to thinking... is there such a hospital that fits that bill and would ever be worth saving? When I left there, I was like if that building was gone, I surely w...

Covina

Very bad. The city has a very small historical society into Victorian era, and I can only cross our fingers are they into this. Many probably bowled there in the hype of the sport in Covina. The city is very anti-preservation unless someone eeks out legal counsel.

Very bad.
