Well I rather like the changes featured, (with exception of the fireplace which a decade later appears dated) , the wood has been washed with a translucent stain something Schindler did regularly, it's still intact just lightened, doesn't seem that egregious. Barbara has a measured approach evident ...

I too made the appointment to visit the house in person and it is quite a mess, very unsound after decades of deferred maintenance and thoughtless add-ons marring what little is left of the original structure. At this price it's nearing lot value. The other daunting aspect is it's current location o...

I lived and worked in DC during the mid 80- early 90's, then Baltimore until early 90's, you guys covered the turf very well. So many of the old dept. stores are long shuttered or demolished in downtown DC. There was an old bar in the movie Brodcast News that may not have survived, had a vitrolite f...

I too visited and it's incredibly well preserved. with no heirs I wonder who got the interior furnishings, it's completely void of any now. The potential hurdle will be the easement cutting through the lot just below the house previously commented on. The remnants of the a driveway are there and cha...

I lived and worked near this location after college, that neighborhood is one of the most prized especially today for the land and exclusivity, if I'm not mistaken it's near Hickory Hill which was occupied by John and Jackie Kennedy and sold to Bobby and Ethel Kennedy, so pretty good provenance! I'd...

Thank you Nathan, that is by far the best photo I've come across, wouldn't it be amazing if we could locate in a photo one of these concrete facias that are part of my fireplace! Still it is so sad to believe this is all that remains of that magnificent building.

McKinley Building

Hi all, I've tried searching for any information about the former McKinley Building on Wilshire Blvd. at Westerm that was sadly demolished at least a decade ago, can anyone direct me to a discussion about that building and it's history, I know it was covered in the news letter a the time but i've ha...

My advice to clients is to not be shy about asking questions. if the answers seem evasive or vague from the seller or his/her representative then reconsider your interest in that property. Contracts can provide certain protections of immunity to a realtor but sellers are bound by disclosures, these ...

Sadly defensive agents dismiss fair inquiries as a challenge or negativity, renovation or restoration is an art, and should be practiced by professionals. Surface cosmetics can hide many a short cut and if your not saavy enough as a buyer (which many of us reading this thread are), you literally ris...
