I believe it. As a realtor I can't understand why other realtors don't snap to the fact that there is an audience for these homes. Right now there is one of the best mods in Memorial Bend for sale. It has some foundation issues, but in Houston's gumbo soil, most slab houses that age do. You fix it, ...

It has taken everything in me not to say something to them. But what would you say at this point? I am afraid my head would spin on my shoulders like Linda Blair and spit out spam & pea soup or something. Unfortunately not everybody understands.

Ouch! They decided a full Home Depot remodel job was in order for the local '54 BH&G house. Love those windows....like I love a good paper cut!

Fantastic... what a great brochure. You really should get more involved with Houston Mod. We could always use more people with your enthusiasm. I'd be curious to see that brochure someday or maybe get a copy... there are some modern houses in Memorial Bend that I am almost certain are not by Floyd....

I have not been able to get a lot of info on the various architects, with the exception of William Floyd, who is well known here. That is due in large part to the Memorial Bend folks and all their great research. I have learned that A. Carroll Brodnax was known for a few mods and published in catalo...

They were all built at the same time and put on "show" at once. Many still retain most of their original charms and are still owned by the original owners. A few have not faired so well and some were torn down for a school expansion. The area is just now starting to regain some ground after years of...

'56 Houston Parade of Homes Brochure

I downloaded copies of an original 1956 Houston Parade of Homes Brochure to the http://www.glenbrookvalley.com website under the same tab as the BH&G'54 article. The Parade of Homes was put on each year by the Houston Builders Association and was supposedly the largest home show of its kind at the t...

Parents Home magazine House

On the recent past.org site, they have a link for the Glenbrook site, the photo shown there, which is also featured on the photo page, was a Parent's magazine home. It was also built in Illinois. They did the Parade of Homes again in 1956 in there (Glenbrook) and I got this info from the brochure fr...

1954 BH&G Home for all America

I found a 1954 BH&G with their nationally promoted "home for all America." It is not some fabulous mod, but the pictures are great. I posted it under its own tab on the http://www.glenbrookvalley.com site. There are also some other great mod house photos on the photo gallery. Pg 74 lists specific ad...
