Hey Stephen, Normally when you can hear water like that it's in a drain pipe - if you don't have any leaks coming from fixtures you should look at any drains that are used for overflow and the like. If it's not a drain it could be buried HVAC that has water coming through it - you might want to chec...

As with anything, the price will come down as adoption goes up. Gone are the days of super cheap energy - if anything energy costs will continue to rise in the US, just as it did in Europe and other parts of the world in the past. The real reason adoption for these units is so high everywhere but he...

Tankless Water Heater Install

I spent the last few days helping a neighbor install a Tankless Water Heater and am doing a writeup on one of my blogs. I thought some would find it interesting.

On #1 the fence - if you want that modern look it's tough to get unless you design and put it up yourself from non-fencing type materials (meaning it's difficult to use off-the-shelf fencing materials to achieve a modern look). Not impossible but your typical fencing company will want to use what's ...

If you buy a great refridgerator you'll end up designing the rest of the kitchen around it if you plan to do a remodel. If it were me I'd buy something inexpensive (love CL for that!) and get by until I've got my plans formalized - or at least until I know what series look/feel of appliances I'd ult...

Have you looked at other flourescent options? There are low profile bulbs that come in fixtures that hug the ceiling more - these fixtures have a shield that allows light to flow downward and to the room and would meet both your task lighting needs and desire to gain some window space. They don't lo...

Personally, I would mount the lines in protected (shielded) conduit across the top of the wall, with the tails protruding into the backsplash in shallow boxes (or even better, mount the outlets in modified planter boxes). My rationale is that if the planters are so flimsy, it would be easier and che...

Atlanta GA - Another great Northcrest property

Someone needs to buy this house right around the corner from mine - it's in great, mostly original condition. See past the furnishings and think about the potential of this great home - tons of room and a great lot. http://www.atlantaintown.com/media/agents/58/2802/fs_eaglerockfront.jpg http://www.a...

I think when you start asking you'll find that many of the commercial roof manufacturers won't warrant a residential roof so it's not surprising. The problem is that the installer needs to know what he's doing so basically you need a commercial installer/roofer - at that point the cost skyrockets - ...

One thing not mentioned - use an exterior paint - it has mildew and fungicides, UV protectents and other additives that will help keep it from discoloring or fading (yellow paint is the worst for sun-fading) - that will make it last longer.

I installed the exhaust fans myself (neither bath had one) and the exit is through a vent stack in the roof (no attic in my home). One of my neighbors is an architectural designer. The US is behind most of the rest of the civilized word when it comes to hot water - Europe and much of Asia has been using them for over 10 years.
