A. Quincy Jones, Holmby Hills, CA -- $24.95M

The Brody House, commissioned by philanthropist art lovers Sidney and Francis Brody and designed by architect A. Quincy Jones and interior designer Billy Haines. The Holmby Hills house first went up for sale a month ago, the same week the Brodys' famous art collection went to auction. The pieces seen in these photos are replicas, although the atrium is bare, no late Matisse in sight (the original is getting ready to go up at LACMA).

And it's right next door to the Playboy Mansion.

What an amazing place! A. Quincy Jones is one of my favorite architects. I have a book on him (A. Quincy Jones - Cory Buckner) I highly recommend.

Does anyone have any vintage photos of this place? I wonder if there were more unpainted brick and darker wood surfaces, back in the day...

Hard to believe this is a 60 year old house. Jones was brilliant and this place really shows it.

Now reduced to $19.5M!!!

Also a fancier slide show at
http://www.360southmapleton.com/

I do covet that bent steel legged outdoor furniture. In one of the shots there is a interior desk/table that uses the same leg style.

And next door to the Playboy mansion -- that must be what caused the $5 mil. price reduction! Amazing house.
