Natchez, Mississippi: 1964 Scholz Home for Sale

Postby Tobey » Fri Oct 21, 2011 9:13 am

Designed by Donald J. Scholz and built by a local homebuilder in 1964, this 3,224-square foot mid-century modern home is for sale for $322,500. Natchez is a small, historic city on the banks on the Mississippi River. Our family has loved every minute of living in this gem and hope that the next owner appreciates the mid-century goodness as much as we have! This home is for sale by owner. Beautiful Mark 58!
We looked at one in Pa. that was quite run down and had some structural issues. I just wish it didn't need the work it did.

Thank you for the compliment and thank you for identifying my house as the Mark 58. My husband and I purchased the house six years ago, not even knowing the term mid-century modern, only knowing that we loved the style. We've learned much since then and during a chance meeting last year with the home's original owner (who built the home himself) found out that the plans are a Scholz design.

I have an original multi-page ad from (I think) 1958 in House Beautiful featuring this home. I also have an original Scholz sales brochure on it.
The Mark 58 and the California Contemporary are some of the most cool prefabs ever built.
