That kicked butt, didn't it?

Why gingerbread? Why NOT turnips?

Gingered Turnips

2 lb turnips, peeled and cubed
1/4 c beef stock
1/2 ts sugar
1/2 ts ground ginger
2 ts soy sauce

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan,
simmer until turnips are tender (15
minutes). Drain, mash until fluffy,
adding cooking liquid as needed for
desired consistency.

Here is one my friends made for me from scratch. It has butterscotch window panes and it even lights up!

Here is my house for comparison

If anyone happened to attend Charles Phoenix's holiday slide show this week, you'd have seen a "live" version of this in the theater lobby. Three feet tall, absolutely gorgeous...and quite tasty looking!

(Unfortunately, they fed us peppermint ambrosia instead.)

Reviving this thread with a new, outrageously priced, entry this year.

One late addition from the Ritz-Carlton (Laguna Niguel)

A replica of a 1948 Ford Woodie. Six feet wide and five and a half feet long, the 150 pounds of gingerbread used to build the car are held together with 300 pounds of royal icing. There's also an entire beachfront boardwalk in the open trunk, complete with an ice cream shop, a surf shop, a barbershop, and a life guard's post. The sand is made from crushed graham cracker.
