You went one too many, above, Chris. The legend is that celebrities die in threes. (Other than having a great first name, is Sky Saxon really in the same category as the other three?)

I'm sure that articles about that legend are or will soon abound.

I remember that Groucho died shortly after Elvis, and I'm pretty sure there was a third, but I can't think of it.

So that's a challenge for the board. What set of three is the most famous?

Ben.
My first vinyl. I still have it. I typed up the words and stapled them to the
sleeve. I must have been about 7.
Cool outfit. He rocked.

Thank you, ttb! Now I don't have to stay up late trying to think of it.

Surely Sebastian Cabot is a big enough star. Look at his filmography on imdb - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001982/ Mostly bit parts, but a bit part on Mister Ed is enough for me!

And within a week of the above mentioned: Karl Malden and Mollie Sugden (Mrs. Slocombe from Are You Being Served.)

The economy must really suck as the grim reaper is working over-time.

Even more, esl. The Grim also took Gale Storm (My Little Margie) who like Malden, probably deserved her own LL obit. And then also in the last couple of days, Billy Mays.

I met Gale Storm when I was maybe 11 years old. I was so impressed even though I didn't really know who she was outside of "Swing Parade of 1946." And then only because she co-starred with the Three Stooges. Oh Boy.

Wouldn't Peter Graves have been part of the latest trifecta?

EDIT: I just heard that Johnny Maestro of The Crests just passed away.

Okay baseball fans, ol' Sparky Anderson died!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sparky_Anderson

I remember him mostly with the Cincinnati Reds, and Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, Tony Perez and Joe Morgan, just to name a few!

I'm shocked (SHOCKED) to find a baseball discussion going on in here ... but pleased.

So, Slim, I thought you were a west coast guy. So how is it that you followed the Reds back then?

Regarding Sparky, he was a human quote machine right up there with the likes of Yogi Berra, Casey Stengel and Tommy Lasagna. It was Sparky Anderson who once said "A baseball manager is a necessary evil." among many other wild and crazy things.

Johnny Bench may have been the star player on the team back then, but I best remember him as a guy who married a playboy bunny, and played ping-pong with the guys during his honeymoon. And that pretty much ended that marriage.

I hated the Reds back then, but I had to admit that, for a period of about 4 years in the 70s, Joe Morgan was the best player in baseball. And whenever I had first choice in a Strat-O-Matic draft league, he was my pick.

Well, back then, I was a Padres fan, sort of; my oldest brother was the Redlegs fan. Later I liked the Indians, but with all the striking they did, it really soured me on pro sports. I kinda liked Nate Colbert as a wee lad:

I think mostly because I had to have a team to like with three baseball crazy brothers. I had a "7-11 Baseball Trading Cup" with him on it. My other brothers were Mets and Tigers fans.
Yeah, Johnny Bench, and Johnny Bench's bench, for Krylon paint!
Hey, do you remember the Cubs team roster cards with the infamous floating heads?

I seem to recall older ones, but this is all I could find.
