follow up to the Massaro House discussion posted above.
dreamy kitchen and bedroom. the dot, dot, dot chase lights are curious.
and the concrete surfaces with the rocks spread apart are not to my liking.
i would prefer a clean plain concrete without the rock decoration. but i
still like the project. is that corten(sp) steel exterior?
a google earth shows shows it 30 miles north of me. hard to do a drive-by unless the lake
freezes over.(where are my hockey skates?). maybe the owner will give me a tour...more pictures and article here...

has some hints of not being finished. paper tabs on the lower cabinets. wondering if some solar and wind
power should be part of the plan, being on an island....

This was discussd on Wright Chat a lot (!) -- is it real Wright or not, etc. . .
I objected to the stone "counters" in the kitchen and was told that the plan is to remove more material and install glass as a useful surface. I'll buy that.
No one likes the stone, or the wimpy quality of the pressed copper roof fascia. I note that the stone wall in the master bedroom is very different and wonder if all the stone walls could be given that treatment as an afterthought. . .

i do follow 'wright chat', but didn't think to search that site. not something they would view 'fair, modern,
challenging, risky, sometimes stupid.' just a crazy use of money and i really believe this owner/builder has
'passion' in the pure crazy sense. it isn't FLW. but i just like the spirit of it's existence. odd choices in materials.
and SDR hiself should have been a consultant in the details. you would have saved it from some
major flaws.

Well, it's a major effort, anyway -- put together by an architect long devoted to Wright. There's a lot that's right about it -- though the entry sequence (from the boat dock, up some indifferent stairs past a comically understated wall fountain) leaves something to be desired -- like coming in the back door, to a grand entry -- or so it seems from the pics.

Which chair ? Which chair ? (Is there an echo in here ?)
I'm not keeping up with my chair-a-day regimen, am I ? (Well, I haven't nearly as many chairs as tables, so maybe it's just as well.)
I'm looking for photos of my deck before I post that.
