Great vinyl flooring

Postby MCMMD » Tue Mar 18, 2014 8:29 am

We had to replace all the dingy brown 9x9 tile on the floor of the lower-level (walk-out basement). Fortunately, there was no asbestos. We got super-lucky on that one.

Anyway, after months of looking, we found a company based in the UK (NOT CHINA!) that has really nice sheet vinyl and vinyl tile, though only the sheet vinyl is suitable for MCM. And not if you are trying to do exact 1950s. But if you are trying to do updated 50s, as we are, try this company:

Polyflor

It is very popular elsewhere in the world, especially the UK, Australia, and South Africa. My FIL, who is in South Africa, said that it is considered one of the best vinyl flooring products there.

The U.S. site is: http://www.ecorecommercialflooring.com/

The homogeneous line in particular, and especially the Mystique Pur, with varied color flecks, is really nice. We had a really tough time choosing. We are extremely happy with the product.

Generally, we found hat if you want a period-appropriate color/pattern, yoiu need to look at the commercial lines and those made in the U.S. just are not as nice as this particular brand.
