The owner of the 101 Coffee Shop in Hollywood says he was inspired by this place.

There was another post on here about the 101 coffee shop

It was in reference to some linked e post cards-one had a cool interior shot. I posted as to where it was and they replied it was the 101.
I think I ate there before it's current incarnation, that's why I don't remember it.

OK - who has an exterior shot of this? It sure looks like a vintage Denny's interior..... Great picture!

It is indeed still in the lovely little town of Blythe, My family and I ate there last August on our way to Tucson. The place is largely intact it has been reupholstered but the chairs are original the bathrooms have this crazy hippie flower paneling, and the cocktail lounge is the best . A lava rock grotto with salad bar and slightly higher prices, than the coffee shop, which is already overpriced for mediocre food. It screams Armet & Davis down to the abstract wall hanging. They even have a lobby with a Palm Tree growing through the roof![/img]

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this was once a 1950's Denny's... can anyone prove me wrong?

The current owner told me it was actually built as Courtesy Coffee Shop! Construction began in 1963 and the grand opening was in 1964.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is now for sale...

OK - thanks! So - who's gonna go out and photo doc it before they sell it?
