Wrong rendering posted,by who knows who?

:o Well I have no idea how this got to Eric Pierce @ Downey Patriot.
but it is the the wrong rendering. The right one has the correct straight font for both the coffee shop & the "drive-in". It does not say drive thru over the canopy. On top of that, the cars have drivers in them and there is even a shot of the "Johnies Baby Jeepster" in the lot right under the COFFEE SHOP sign.
I wish that people wouldn't put the wrong info out w/o checking reliable souces 1st. Its one thing to get the news out, but it is another thing to misinform the general public. We are doing what we can to make this rebuild/repair right.
The restaurant will emcompass both 58 and 68 elements as well as some corporate and vintage Bobs Big Boy elements. This is a lot of work people
and we want to make sure this isnt the"malt shop" look. The interior designer is phenominal. He gets it and people should be happy with the end result.

Also, those big steel angles over the drive in are missing, and I see they are still standing, so I am guessing they will still be used?

Happybunny, are you talking about those V-shaped beams that support the drive-in canopy?

Those are still there.. They are the frame for this piece below, which is to be rebuilt.

Yes, we will be allowed on the site for pics under the canopy.
Bring a vintage car to get in on the action.

While we're there, we'll discuss The Downey Brewing Co. formerly known as the Nordic Fox-Foxys. I'm game if everyone else is???

check out post #840 on the HAMB:

be sure to read this part:

"All this after some initial concern over attracting youngsters. It was that 19-to-20-year-old group that Myles wasn't sure about, because of a perceived generation gap. But when young people talked about the Big Boy rocket that Austin Powers flew in the movies, Myles knew Big Boy had spanned yet another generation since Bob Wian opened his first 10-seat diner in Glendale in 1936.

"They relate with that fat guy with the checkered pants," Myles said."

It's so strange that scaffolding would go up around the sign first. I wonder what the plan is? Don't you imagine ground level construction would start first and then the sign would be worked on later?

Chris, the signage was detached from the superstructure in order to get the sign restoration work underway. While that's being accomplished, the old downdraft system is being excavated. A new ventilation system and utility lines will be installed next. According to the structural engineer, the stone walls were delaminating from the plywood backing so the walls will be reconstructed using the original fieldstone. More to follow.

Via Adriene at H.A.M.B.

It looks like we've got a date for the grand opening event that we're coordinating with Jim and Danny White of The Last Rock and Roll Show -- September 19th, so mark your calendars. It's gonna be something else, Route 66 cruise, 50s sock hop...and more! So stand by, we'll be filling you in on the details in the coming weeks.

Hey Guys/Dolls,
This isn't written in stone, but we are working with Danny White in order to have a Grand Opening Fund Raiser coinciding with the Grand Opening of the Broiler and a Book Signing of The Last Rock and Roll Show penned by Danny that factors the Broiler into the dialog and story line. We may require your assistance in this matter. What can you do to assist?

Hey Chris, Thanks for keeping tabs on this.
