There's an unconfirmed rumor that Beverly Hills BMW is looking to move and is eyeing the Lou Ehlers properties, north and south, around 5151 Wilshire Boulevard. Their interest on the south portion includes the Bob's Big Boy restaurant.

Any idea who designed that dealership?

I believe our good buddy Mr. Stiles O. Clements did the Cadillac dealership. Bob's was designed by Armet & Davis and completed in 1972.

I've been smelling blood on the water there for a long time. HUGE lot, widowed owner, drop in business...

Thanks Nichols!

Alan Hess spoke on "Which Way L.A?" yesterday about Bob's on Wilshire and appreciation for '70s architecture.

Another Fiscal Year Starts Without a State Budget

Legacy Player:
It’s the same old story. Republicans want to cut programs, but they won’t say which ones. Democrats want to raise taxes, but they’re not specific, either. In the meantime, the deficit is 15 billion dollars and climbing. Voters don’t trust either side to make meaningful change. On Reporter’s Notebook, Bob’s Big Boy on Wilshire Boulevard will be no more.

Wow, that's a really deep blog...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Are there a lot of Bob's(s) with that design still around? I think I recall there being one off the 101 in the Oxnard area...

There are several of them, but none were nearly as original as Wilshire. Only the Glendale location remains a Bob's. The rest are Coco's and Carrows and who knows what else...

Oh! and I understand the Torrance location (the ones that are restoring Johnie's Broiler) have resurrected a Chula Vista style Bob's that had become a Carrows... Haven't been there tho.

Bob's reminded me this terrace in villa in Barcelona,

I spent a 2 weeks holiday here in 2015. Was a great private place, though a bit far from the city center.
