Most of these are immediately recognizable, but where is that State Theatre?

I know these are supposed to make us happy, but seeing the Culver without the script marquee still makes me bummed.

Dangit! It ticks me off to see how cool the marquee letters were on the Olympic Theater. They were ripped off and trashed a few months ago when the marquee was turned into an advertising billboard.

I was down on Broadway yesterday, and saw what they did to the Olympic sign. Very sad.

On the plus side, the Million Dollar is back open (and apparently booked for Last Remaining Seats this year). They don't have the name above the marquee yet, but I'm hopeful.

A few more daytime shots.

Gorgeous photographs!!! They're all fantastic! I'm jealous of the Star Theatre shot! Whenever I've gone to Oceanside, it's always been turned off.

Let's see some more!!!

Thanks, Roadside! How about some interior shots?

Old Town Music Hall in El Segundo. The back of the theater is filled with the workings of a Mighty Wurlitzer, the parts edged in fluorescent paint. During the pre-show, they turn on a black light and you can see them moving.

Grauman's Chinese, my favorite theater.

The crystal waterfall in the lobby of the Los Angeles Theater.

The Palace Theater in Downtown LA at last year's Last Remaining Seats.

The Fox Village in Westwood. Apparently this alcove used to be a doorway for a Spanish courtyard.

The upstairs lobby of the National, also in Westwood, now demolished.

Wow...those are great shots! It's a good thing you got that shot of the upstairs lobby of the National!

I need to go around Idaho and shoot some theatres. There's one here in Nampa that's in the process of being restored. It doesn't have a sign, but has a nicely designed facade.
