Hamilton, Ontario...

Postby Roger Thornhill » Tue Jul 14, 2009 7:06 am

...is where I am moving to this weekend (goodbye Big Smoke). School's over; career's starting, blah blah. Any Canucks out there know of any MCM goodness in Hamilton I should be checking out? In fact, anything of interest?

CFL Museum

The Canadian Football league Museum is located in Hamilton, and rumors are out there that the Phoenix Coyotes may move to Hamilton, halfway between Toronto & Buffalo. I found Hamilton to be a pretty average run down city, but they have many Tim Hortons Donut Shopw!!!

Steve, interesting article. IMO, the author does a good job of pointing that the feverish Timmies cult isn't really backed up by anything (the products are truly so-so) other than cost (though they offer a much cleaner, more professional atmosphere than a lot of other inexpensive coffee shops) and history (its hockey origins; its tragic Wendy's days).

There are enough other options in the cities that I don't begrudge Tim Hortons its success, but it's a shame how ubiquitous it is in smaller towns where the competition is too often non-existent.

Send me a PM next time you're planning a trip. I'd be happy to meet up.

MCMAdmirer, thanks for the advice! The internet makes it a million times easier to start exploring a new city.

I found an interesting link here with some interesting pics of Hamilton architecture (and of buildings across Ontario): http://www.ontarioarchitecture.com/Artmoderne.htm and http://www.ontarioarchitecture.com/Contempo.htm

Rockland, for all the Don Cherry you can handle, I suggest checking out: http://doncherryjacketwatch.wordpress.com/

Of many favorites, I think his greatest sartorial accomplishment has to be this wonder: http://doncherryjacketwatch.wordpress.c ... ngtime-but…/

Hamilton - Go Tabbys

Postby retromodernjeff » Fri Aug 28, 2009 4:26 pm

Drunk steel town union Tabby fans at Ivor Wino stadium.

The original Tims is in Hamilton on Ottawa St.

Hess Village for sure, even more fun when Mac U is in. Try the Gown and Gavel.

You should say bye to the big smoke and hello to Stelco/Dofasco smoke.

Try going for brunch in Ancaster at The Old Mill.
