Hey all,

I will be visiting Detroit for a few days next week. I will be working mostly, but I was wondering if anyone here on Lottaliving knows of any good mcm dealers, thrift stores or even just places to see?

I'd appreciate any advice very much, since I haven't had the time to do much research...

Motown Records is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The house where it all started is now a museum.

Well I don't get to Detroit often but there is Lafayette Park by Mies and Cranbrook off the top of my head. There are a few stores around but can't come up with any.

If you like FLLW there is a nice example in Ann Arbor, not too far of a drive

A little farther yet in Kalamazoo is a house designed by George Nelson I'd be happy to show you.

Sorry I'm not much help but I'll update the thread as I find/think of more.

Make sure you have some Verners while you are there.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I had a very tight schedule, but I did get to see the 'Stuffed Animal House' which is part of the 'Heidelberg Project', an ongoing outdoor art project by Tyree Guyton covering two whole blocks of Detroit's east side.

Another Detroit folk art project not to be missed is the 'Hamtramck Disneyland'...
