8 years later and we are talking about the possibility of the Bavinger House either severely damaged by a storm that came through, or the owner is demolishing it out of spite.
Here is what we know about the Bavinger House situation:
Monday, Bob Bavinger called an organization in Oklahoma asking them to remove promotional material for the Bavinger House as he had "torn it down to the ground". In an attempt to verify that, two separate phone calls happened Monday night with Bob in which he stated that he had torn the house down last week and that there was nothing left as he had hauled it all away. Tuesday morning at sunrise several individuals were able to confirm that the house was indeed still standing and had not been "torn down to the ground" as Bob had told everyone. Some of these individuals tried to get photos, but as you know if you have been there, that is difficult without getting on his property, which is wired for cameras.
Unable to find out what was actually going on, a cohort and I drove down to Norman from Tulsa this afternoon to check on the reported demolition and then non-demolition of the Bavinger House. From what we could see (see picture), it is my opinion that there is some catastrophic damage to the house. I do not know if it was caused by the storm last Thursday that came through the area as the Bavinger house website claims. We were confronted by Boz, Bob Bavinger's son, and told to leave but not before he told us that it had endured some storm damage. As you can see from the photo I posted the main spire of the building has collapsed to a 50 - 55 degree angle. Since that spire was holding all the structural cables that held up the roof and room pods etc. I am assuming that the roof and rest of the structure suffered a similar catastrophic failure... The website currently says the house will not be reopening due to storm damage....
The image on the left is the photo I took yesterday at around 4 o'clock, the image on the left is of course the house in its correct state. you can tell that the spire has collapsed as it should be visible through the trees...

I have attached a few other stories. The Norman article states that the spire was still standing, however that is incorrect. I have seen it with my own two eyes and the spire is not standing.
