I still can't get over Jesus Use Me, with its streamlined bus, erupting waters, floating Head of Christ and Mr. Miller's particular ability to play the Hammond.

But then it came to me, in a vision--a pirate, with an actual hook! Puppets! Satan on the picket line! (What scab would dare cross?) Missing a hand is no born without arms and legs, but then, Mr. Miller doesn't have puppets, now does he?

Or treasure? Miller doesn't have treasure.

Up a few posts there's that "Where are the Dead?" cover. Well, I think I've figured out where the dead went.

Necrophiles were having a swingin' time before its cultural shutdown. To wit:

Wow! That is a vision of heaven! All those descriptions of the Hevenly Jerusalem in Revelation were way off!

First, though, I have to die.

Maybe I should have my ashes shot into space, like in The Loved One. That way, I'd be closert to God and stuff.

Hopefully my rocket won't be manned by these astronuts.

And now, let us observe a moment of silence for those lost in the terrible Youthquake of 1971.

Gee FG, you must have a buncha LPs sitting around, aching to be put here on the site...RSPictures put on some doozies, after which I googled Hudson & Landry...something new to investigate.

Ok, one more for the time being...then I gotta get back to work, whatever that is.

There are a lot of cajun folk who work with my business down in the Atchafalaya. Someone says "I gar-on-tee!" to them, they'll have no idea what you're talking about, or they'll just smile and nod and go about their business. Those who smile and nod, don't say "gar-on-tee" to them twice.

Let me see if I've got this straight. Across Christmas Morning Mid-Century America, there are tiny animatronic girls who have saluted the führer--guess he just walked in to watch Kuklux Fran & Ollie on the Philco. Meanwhile, kittens sniff their mid-regions. I see.

Everyone remembers the Froog and the Watusi, but few recall the short-lived "Hang From the Rafters!" dance craze of February 2-9, 1965.

Image

The HFTR craze was displaced by the "Do the Mime" which is prefigured by the young lady in the back.

To which do you refer specifically? If I had to choose, I'd say that dishy Minka is at the top of her graphic-design game.

Sadly I do remember Lena Zavaroni - RIP. If you like little kids singing earsplittingly loudly about highly innappropriate subjects take a listen to her one big hit in the UK in the 70's 'Mama He's Making Eyes at Me' ...

Ok, maybe a coupla more, only because I was so thrilled by roadside's space-theme...

Image

I'm not sure of the physics involved, but isn't there no sound in space?

Are they in über-wonderment, or recoiling in terror?

Image

There's a lot of talk about the moon landings being a hoax, and I hope this image puts that kind of nonsense to rest. We went there, brought these guys, and here's the proof.

I mean, I want to stop posting here, but I can't.

Especially in that, as a member of the diminutive class myself, I'm envious as to where Mr. Mason buys his sharkskin suits.

Oh my gosh! Could it be??? I knew a family of Ledbetters in Fresno. They were the pastors of a Baptist church....the younger Ledbetter, who is probably about 60 years old now, used to tour/lead a Christian choir! Oh my gosh, I'm aging myself now! LOL!

Wanted all of you to know that I'm getting a HUGE kick out of this thread! Wish I would have kept some of my very super odd and strange LPS now!

If you are in Japan for Christmas, you would be right on the money. It's a tradition. I think there maybe a marketing opportunity for a reissue in the Japanese market. Think of the $$$ possibilities .

You don't have to be an operaphile to enjoy the hair and costumes in this intensely categorized collection of lps. My favorite? "Eleanor Steber—Live at the Continental Baths".

And don't forget Wing Tunes. The CD covers are just ok, but "Dancing Queen by Wing" is a fantastic album.

Opera albums

Postby Josquin » Mon Oct 09, 2006 3:10 pm

I knew the costumes in the Star Wars saga looked familiar, but I thought that was from watching too much Kabuki. Clearly, I was mistaken. After seeing MONIKA OLKISZ-CHABROS album cover, it all becomes very clear. There was a western tradition after all. No wonder they call Star Wars a "Space Opera".
